Sorry to respond to this old comment, but: I think many of these kids were recurring actors on the show (much like, I think, pretty much every background character actor)! I played a victorian workhouse kid in a school play and actually found it pretty cool. I know that the labor in victorian times was a terrible thing, but this is a great way to get the message across. PS, major backfire with the thumbs up thing, dude.

@Nascarrrrrrfan - well, yes, that's what I was explaining. Does nobody know anything about Literature and Cinema these days? The musical Oliver is based on Charles Dickens novel Oliver Twist, which was famous in it's day for highlighting the plight of working-class families and especially pauper children. It is no coincidence that HH used a Dickens scenario to explain Victorian work practices - they obviously had more schooling and education than most of the folk who visit KZbin!!

It certainly points out to them how lucky they are in this day and age, that they get a chance to actually be kids, rather than packed off by their desperate poor family's to work long hours in a factory, where they stood a very good chance at being killed or maimed and their employers would only get angry because of the disruption to production. I mean, imagine an employer now, docking your wages, because you'd lost a hand in one of the machines in a factory
