Excellent tutorial video. I'm doing the same in a bedroom which I am renovating, but instead using the ener-j brand kinetic receiver and switch. 🎉I was confused about the switching cable running to the on / off switch, I now understand that wire will be made redundant. But I will be keeping the switch and existing wiring but not connected - terminated into wago connectors both sides and the switch blanked off. Thanks for the video it was a massive help.

Great video,so clear and easy to follow step by step procedure,wireless switching is certainly the way forward with no evasive chasing or difficult cable feeding,really enjoyed that

I did exactly the same job this week. Fitted a Quinetic mini receiver inside the light fitting rather than a standard receiver. Only down side is that it has a constant flashing red LED that can be seen when lights are out. Got to go back next week and reposition. Apart from that, they've saved me a lot of times.

Be interesting to see how long this wireless switching lasts. . In my experience modern technology doesn’t last . Hence that light your changing hasn’t lasted

Well they say 200k switches on the booklet that you get with the switch, who knows if it will last that long. It also has a 3 years guarantee, i suppose if it does last 3 years or so its not that terrible but again when you do compare it to a normal switch it doesn't necessarily compare very well. Some old switches last for donkeys of years don't they!

Why not just put a quinetic switch inside the toilet to control the light? Being wireless they're safe inside wet areas. Bathroom light switches outside the bathroom is a pet peeve of mine

Question, does the electrical regs even require a pullcord switch in a WC? I thought it's only required if it's above a sink or within 60cm of a bathtub or shower. Can any sparkies on here correct/clarify pls.

And somebody from the US the pole cords and outside bathroom switches make no sense to me. I know it's historical but I'm just imagining being in the bathroom and having somebody turn the light off on you And having no window for natural light. Although there is one advantage you can have an occupancy indicator attached to the light switch outside yet I have not seen that done. so I think the kinetic wireless switching is the way to go! And I'm so glad that I'm subscribed so you don't have to pull the main fuse and you can let that other guy do that for you.

@@godthealmighty4338 and yeah the mere act of having a light switch in a bathroom has been common practice for decades now in the US with no deaths. When I mentioned historical I was referring to the slight overreaction to bad electrical practices and poorly insulated conductors in the locations. of all the shocks I had none of them were in the bathroom and that was before GFCI's. PS Love the user handle haha.

@JussiPeltola
@JussiPeltola Жыл бұрын
Why not? If it doesn't have a ground or any signal and LV cables that could lead to ground, Meggering with L & N together would have to leak enough current through the plastic casing to break it. Not going to happen at 250V or 500V.

In Brazil we have the light switch and sockets for hair dryers and shavers inside the bathrooms. In my 46 years, I’ve never heard of anyone who died or any property that had a fire started in there. Also the first time I came across a pull cord was down in London in 2006. There has not been anything like that back in Brazil since the late 40’s. And we are a 3rd world country!🤦🏻‍♂️

By making those changes to the luminaire you have invalidated the manufacturer's warranty. The fitting will have been checked against EN60-598 for CE CAUK and / or ENEC. All these are now invalid

Do you do this mod for only customers with more money than sense? Instead of just finding the fault and fixing it, like changing the pullswitch or putting a new fuse in the lamp? I bet the owners will miss the pull switch, when somebody turns the light off from outside the room when they are sitting on the toilet!!

The the flickering on the camera image is annoying you, all you need to do to fix it is change the Frame Rate setting to match the Power Frequency... Since the UK (I believe) is 50 Hz AC, set the Frame Rate to 25 or 50 Frames per second and the On-Screen flicker should (in theory) disappear...
