I'm only a few months old to the movie collectors' channels. So far your channel and Ken's MidLevelMedia channel are the only two I'm subscribed to. Much of that is because I like you guys and how you present your material. Ken on one of his recent videos also brought up the issue of the subjectivity of what movies people like and why. He also said that he will always be honest about his opinion about movies even if they aren't the popular opinion. I told him the same thing I'll tell you. I want you to be honest. I think that's one of the fun things about discussing movies with other people is having differing opinions and talking about why. I'm also one of those people (as Ken said he was) that no matter what someone's opinion is about a movie if I'm interested in seeing it I will and form my own opinion. I've had several times when even though there were a lot of negative reviews I saw a movie anyway, and decided I didn't think it was that bad or even good.
@cobwebschannel5 ай бұрын
Thanks! And I agree, the only reason someone can convince me not to see a movie is if I was only mildly interested in the first place.

Love you giving us your authentic opinions. Too many reviewers try to play to the algorithms, and it just becomes lowest common denominator. Individual humans - like yourself - intentionally curating artifacts is how personal taste is formed, and those recommendations are the absolute best. Miss being able to stumble across, like, Stuart Gordon films at Blockbuster and renting it because the box looked cool. Kudos, man.

Fun fact about Ghostwatch (I'm Scottish and watched it live on tv at the time). The BBC wanted to use ultrasound frequencies during the show (probably when Mike Smith talks about barking dogs) to make viewers dogs go crazy when they set it off. Some (sensible) chappy at the Beeb vetoed it. Probably thinking of the resultant legal action nationwide.... also, the amount of people in Britain who absolutely will deny this now, at the time believed this was all really happening. I know. I was there. ;)

When i was six years old, my stepfather secretly assembled and painted several Universal figures. I woke on Christmas to see The Wolfman ( my favorite), the Frankenstein monster, Dracula, the Mummy and the Hunchback of Notre Dame on top of my dresser. I will never forget that. Unfortunately, my mother threw them away when i went to college. I had a ton of Dark Shadows memorabilia( 4 series of bubble gim cards, viewmaster , etc.) that also went into the trash but i have the memories.

Congrats. You’ve relit my bluray fire. I stalled out around 460 something and 100 and something dvds. Now I’m back in. I already have the (I think 7) universal monsters blus but now I’m updating each monster to the “ Legacy ” ones to get all the sequels. I stopped a few years ago to basically collect Gibson and Fender guitars( it’s a bit of a thing too) Anyway I’m back in! I don’t know weather to thank you or curse you! I rearranged them all too but they certainly don’t look anything near your arrangement. Love your channel man. You and Dark Corners are my fave these days. Great list. I think I must rewatch "Tales that witness madness" again, Joan Collins was my favorite in that movie and planning to rewatch "Dark places" with Joan Collins also in it again, great movie. I have just watched "The Brood" from 1979 with Oliver Reed, now that was one of the best I´ve seen in a while, rather creepy. Now I´m in the middle of "The man who could cheat death" 1958 with Christopher Lee, good of what I´ve seen. I may have to give "Corridors of Blood" a chance more with Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee, didn´t grap me at first.

I can't remember if I commented on your Maxxxine review but I totally agree with you. Like you, I was also very excited about the movie. I was on board with the style/aesthetic but very early on in the movie I felt like this was not what I was hoping it would be. By the end I was laughing out loud at how dumb the climax was. So bad. I think the script did a major disservice to the Maxine character. She keeps repeating over and over again that she'll do anything to become famous but her character was too passive for me to actually believe it. I know Ti West was inspired by Angel and some other sleazy 80s movies but I wish Maxine's character had more in common with Jake Gyllenhaal's character in Nightcrawler. That's a character that I absolutely believed would do ANYTHING to succeed. I just didn't buy it with Maxine. Enjoyed the video! I also was a fan of Longlegs so I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I 100% agree with you on Maxxine and for the very reasons you stated. I 100% disagree with you on Longlegs. I did not care for the main character, and the premise was way too convoluted. I know you didn't like Cry Baby, but found the parental death explanations hilarious. John Water's best films are full of that kind of humor. What may be his best known and my favorite is Serial Mom. I highly, highly recommend it. Maxxxine is more of a Giallo than an outright Horror. It's my favorite of the three. I find all of the Blind Dead movies to be dull. They're carried by the outstanding zombie creatures. I wish there were more interesting plots in the movies.

x Watched The Return of the Living Dead, great movie! o Very funny story setting up the movie in the beginning between the foreman Frank and and the new worker Freddy at the medical supply company! o The 80s punk style aesthetic was one of the best examples of that fashion genre I have ever seen, just fantastic! o Trash, that one girl with the red hair that looked like a character from the animated series ThunderCats, was a wild prescence on the movie! † The scene where they are playing around in the cemetery while she is stripping is one of the wildest and most outrageous scenes I have ever seen! o I really liked the section where the cemetery is flooded, I think that sets up an amazing scenario for rising zombies! o That one slimy zombie whose head is mostly a skull is fantastic! o That scene where the upper half of a type of zombie was trying to explain why she wanted to eat brains was an awesome special effect and spine-tingling! x It is really interesting hearing you talk about MaXXine! o I am going to watch X, Pearl, Pearl Harbor, and The Exorcist on my birthday this year (it is on December 7, which is Pearl Harbor Day). o Since I haven't seen any of the three movies in that series, it is very fascinating hearing what types of perspectives MaXXine is seen through. x I tried again to find that movie The Night of the Walking Dead, but I was unable to find it online again. x I might be going to see Twisters in the theater, not sure when it is coming to my hometown theater! x I will keep my eyes open for Longlegs on streaming, I really want to see that movie! o When I watched It Follows with Maika Monroe at the end of the month, I created two sandwiches for when I watched it: † 1- It Follows Sandwich - Toasted Sara Lee Wheat Bread + Underwood Deviled Ham + Course Ground Mustard + one slice Kraft American Single cheese ------ 2 - Jay Height Sandwich - Toasted Sara Lee Wheat Bread + fried slice of Bristol Canned Ham + honey and cinnamon mixture to go on top x I am going to watch Fletch again tonight (after seeing this video) as it is the upcoming Dinner and A Movie video for Our 80s Life. o They were going to do it for their last one but decided to do Beverly Hills Cop since the new movie (Axel F) was being released at the time. x I am going to add Rush Week and will watch it Wednesday night. o I post the movies I watch to my Facebook Page for my college network (Doane Network) o College-related movies are extremely valuable to that network, especially for college traditions (like Rush Week, The Initiation, etc.) x Other than those (and since I have a lot of the movies in this video already on my watchlists), I am going to add Howl, A Chinese Torture Chamber, Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet Frankenstein, and Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet The Wolfman to my December Watchlist (I am really backed up on movies!).
