Watched recently. Well filmed, has some amusing moments. But average at best. And the band is pretty horrible.

John Carpenter's 'The Thing' (1982) as well as the original 'The Thing From Another World' (1951) are excellent winter horror movies that take place in Antarctica for John Carpenter's 'The Thing' and in the Arctic for 'The Thing From Another World' with the harsh weather and isolation playing a pivotal role for those scientists encountering an other-worldly creature that can assume various forms as an extremely dangerous predator.

Stanley Kubrick's 'The Shining' (based on Stephen King's novel) should be on any winter horror/thrillers list since the harshness and isolation of winter snow at the Overlook Hotel plays a huge role on the growing insanity of Jack Nicholson's character, etc. :)

I haven’t seen this film for years. but I do remember some scenes and details that stuck with me all this time. I remember Scott Glen’s performance and I remember the imagery. I recognized Scott from the right stuff and this film was so different. I was so surprised that he did this film because it was such a departure compared to the right stuff. I believe that this was even before Silverado.

22:21 'A Simple Plan' (1998) is such a great movie and almost has a Coen Brothers 'Fargo' (1996) feeling about it, but it is unique in its own way as a wintery crime drama that shows friendships and family relationships unravel due to greed, paranoia, and not knowing who to trust in the town or beyond. It's perfect. :)

💯 Agree!! Dario Argento's TENEBRE is the Best Giallo Horror Movie Ever Made. It's quite simply a MASTERPIECE!.... Your list already has some great titles like : Blade In The Dark, Deep Red, Bird With Crystal Plumage... but these are the ones that you left out : Dario Argento's OPERA, Mario Bava's BAY OF BLOOD, Aldo Lado's WHO SAW HER DIE, Pupi Avati's HOUSE WITH THE WINDOWS THAT LAUGHED, and to give credit to other countries other than Italy for their own version of giallo is : Nicolas Roeg's DON'T LOOK NOW, and America's own giallo ALICE, SWEET ALICE

You said you wanted to talk about lesser known movies, yet brought up the relatively popular 30 Days of Night, which almost everyone thinks of when they think winter horror. 🤔 No but seriously, though, nice shout-out to Blackcoat's Daughter (which has become one of my go-to Winter Horrors, too) and No Exit (which was actually pretty watchable for the first two-thirds before sadly devolving into the most stock Hollywoood cliches by the last act). Hated, hated, hated A Simple Plan, though. It's literally just an insipid, bargain-bin, incredibly vanilla, blandly shot Fargo cash-in / knock-off. Anyway, as for myself, The Wolf of Snow Hollow (2020) is one that's become seasonal viewing for me. Also a few weeks back, I watched one called Windchill (2007) starring Emily Blunt - not a great movie and pretty predictable, but I actually found it OK if in the right wintery mood. And of course, Let the Right One In (2008) (the original Swedish one) (definitely my favorite vampire movie). I could also say Girl With The Dragon Tattoo as a winter thriller I've watched countless times (the Fincher remake is one of those rare instances of the American version being way better), but that one's also pretty popular.

Looking forward to checking this one out. Oddly enough it's one of few films none of my crew knew about despite some very large collections between us and how many decades of film watching we have combined. Can't catch them all, but sometimes these long lost films are a great treat when they get the Vinegar Syndrome (or other boutique label) treatment. If one of us hasn't picked it up during the Black Friday sale it'll probably be in my next order placed and ready for a movie night of bad good movies!

Like seeing all the Paul Naschy films on your list. I know he butted heads a bit with director Leon Klimovsky, but they made some wildly entertaining flicks together. I've also got a soft spot for Amando de Ossorio's BLIND DEAD films.

I saw this movie at the Cinema and loved it saw it on that very 1st day of release 10pm on a Friday in 1983 when Friday's were the only release day, then many years later came Wed & Fri as well as sneak peek the night before in recent years so now we have release days of Tue-Wed-Thu-Fri, Would love to see an alternate cut from Mann, just like Stallone did with Rocky IV when he made Rocky vs. Drago The Director's Cut the movie was just a few minutes longer but actually had over 40 minutes of new footage, didn't make the movie better but just a great alternate cut, The Fight Between Apollo Creed and Ivan Drago was more of a 1 sided fight that ended in tragedy vs a 1 sided massacre, extra scenes here and there would make The Keep definitely even better by just adding more character development

This one has been a long-time favorite, and I’m glad it’s finally gotten the love it deserves from Vinegar Syndrome. The packaging is fantastic. I wonder if Vinegar Syndrome could pull some strings to find the director’s cut of The 13th Warrior. That would be incredible.

This video just has the most amount of copium I've ever seen devoted to a single non-Disney movie. You seriously go a long way to polish this turd. Sometimes a bad movie is JUST a bad movie. Every director has at least one stinker, most, more than one. It's alright, accept it. Don't try and paint it as some misunderstood masterpiece.

One major thing to know is that yes this is a story that F Paul Wilson created and a history of his world that covers wome 20+ novels that cover over a century of time and that is why the movie seems so disjointed. There is so much history and back story.

The cut up version is really terrible in comparison to the original novel. Its one of the worst tampered with movies, along with Orson Welles Magnificent Ambersons, and the original Theatre release of Touch of Evil.

If there's two things I like it's Heavy Metal/Rock and Horror movies. I need to know about all the Heavy Metal Horror movies out there.
@suzybearheart530Күн бұрын
Me too, I don't know them all but here's a couple I like. 1. Trick or Treat (not to be confused with the anthology movie everyone knows) 2. Black Roses 3. Ragewar or also known as Dungeon Master - more Scifi than horror but loads of cheesy 80s metal fun! One day I hope to own a small one-screen movie theater where I only play movies pre-2000. I will do a weekly series called Metal Mondays where I screen a different metal movie each week until I run out. 😂
