1:30 This point is not quite accurate. Using large contingents of soldiers amassed together in lines was a way of multiplying the firing power of muskets (which were one shot, inaccurate at long range, and slow to reload) against the enemy. Also ambush tactics and even guerilla tactics were part of warfare including during the American revolution. While shooting officers was frowned upon it was still on occasion done. However all these tactics had to change after rapid fire rifles, machine guns and heavy artillery were introduced. As you point out World War I was the major turning point in this change (for obvious reasons if you read the history).

Yeah I was about to say. To the layman it seems stupid, but to the military men of that time, it was the only way to maximize the killing potential of the musket

It was a good video, but I think it misses an important point: horror is one of the last refuges of tension between comedy and tragedy in Pop culture. If you go to see an action movie, you know the good guys are going to win. There's always that moment towards the end where everything seems lost, but then the heroes always pull off a win at the end. Comedies that have a plot usually follow the same trope. Horror movies keep you guessing. There's a lot of value in a narrative diet that mixes stories where the good guys win with stories where they lose. It helps set expectations that sometimes you fail in spite of your best efforts, and that doesn't make you a complete failure.
