It reminds me of the cat videos, you take a look, the cat is far away and you going to hide, and with every look, the cat is a little bit nearer to you, but you never see how she is mooving towards. I was so so scared at this scene, it's the typical Jump scare,. you KNOW there will be this moment, when the creature stand suddenly direct in front of her, but you jump out of your jeans, if the moment cames....very good scene!

james Deer Sorry, I have to disagree. Over the years I have begun to look down on the death penalty because it is a quick and easy end. Her at the end? It looks like she was getting what she deserves. Keep her alive, let her suffer.
@TheHookBoy
@TheHookBoy 4 жыл бұрын
james Deer well, to start things off, you will have to agree that there are many who do not believe in hell...like me. You also must admit that there are many who believe that you can murder someone and, later in their life, they can ask for forgiveness and accept Jesus as their savior and they would still go to heaven. Just read the old book and you’ll see I’m right. However, if I were to say you are correct and there is a hell, my point still stands. First reason is they should suffer before they go to hell so her spending another 40 years on earth (just a possibility) being forced to realize what she did and her suffering for it isn’t a bad thing. The second reason is what stands whether hell does or doesn’t exist. The death penalty is a quick way out and I consider it a mercy. A mercy doesn’t make people fear what they will face for their crime. Here’s a serious question: how many people have been tortured and begged for the suffering to stop? Another good question is what is worse? Is a quick and painless death sentence worse than being r@ped and beaten by Bubba for the rest of your life? What option makes people say “I won’t do that.” If the death was horrific I’d agree with you, but “cruel and unusual punishment” is not allowed even when a criminals actions are cruel and unusual. I think you can understand what I’m saying and how I side with you about her being punished, but something worse must be done. Claim I’m a monster, but killing a child is unforgivable.
@TheHookBoy

james Deer well, with all the of these asinine lockdowns and a lack of human interaction, it gives one time to thoroughly answer questions in an interesting way. Did you check out that Omeleto video? I actually found it extremely interesting.
@oren1305

@james Deer It's not giving women an excuse for murder - it's not justifying anything to say she wasn't mentally well, really. She clearly wasn't stable at all, and by no means to I think her actions should go without punishment, but murdering the mentally ill doesn't fix the issue at large. And for that matter, men can also suffer from post-partum depression and harm their children without really meaning to.

It's true. That's why we people are so obsessed over having a girlfriend or a boyfriend, and over sex in general, it's all about reproduction. Even if you are gay, you are still looking for a mate, because your body still "thinks" that would give you offspring... I am bisexual myself and I suffer cuz I can't find the "perfect" partner for me, I know that I would probably have a kid if being with a male (having a husband) , I know that I would probably not have kids if being with a woman (having a wife), but I know that regardless the sexual orientation it's all about our instinct to reproduce. 🙄🙄

Man that was a masterpiece...so well made and acted. I would love to know WHY she did what she did...clearly she was left alone by a man and bitter about it, like the old woman said happen to her. NOT the boy's fault. But there was no excuse for what she did...none. The old woman's last words, "what have you done?" after the boy told her gave me chills. Madness was the price. The doctor was right. Another thing, the light switch bit reminded me of the short film "Lights Out." Facing the evil part of herself...brilliant.

I may be off the mark but I saw it as a kind of revenge on behalf the older woman because of her pain of losing a child she desperately wanted over and over again, this desire being destroyed by uterine cancer(?) and eventually killing her while the young woman chose to take her own child's life by contrast. Then the blood at the end probably signifying a violent destruction of the young womans uterus which will hinde her from having any more children and simulate the pain/experience the older woman went through 6 times. I thought the parallel was interesting regardless.

This gave me all sorts of emotions. Children really are blessings and a legacy. They are innocent and vulnerable and should always be protected. It's unfortunate so many meet tragedy because of wicked parents, unstable or mentally ill parents, and neglect.
@neverthesame7887
@neverthesame7887 4 жыл бұрын
brooklyngal: I wholeheartedly agree with you on that statement. Especially with divorce, when parents use their children as pawns....it's awful. Anyway, here's a thought that might make you think I'm nuts. It's from a spiritual point of view, I believe we all have a soul's journey for necessary spiritual growth, there is also karma to be acknowledged. Maybe some souls come back to HELP others in their journey even if it means tragedy for THEM is necessary for the lesson to be learned. It could be any type of scenario. And one more thought and I'll go away...haha When my son was about ten years old, we had just moved because my husband left me for someone else. It was scary but I was dealing with it all. One day out of nowhere, my son says to me, "Mom, I think that me and Joe (his younger brother) are here to help you, like we'll be your angels!" That statement kind of freaked me out a bit but at the same time it made me feel great. Sure enough, about 15 years later, both sons are helping me tremendously through some of the toughest times ever. It boggles the mind sometimes!!!

That's why we need to support young parents more, as well as better provide for children, whether they're your own or not - it takes a village, after all. Mental health help should not be neglected the way it is, and social services shouldn't ignore children in need.

Excellent storytelling! She was, In the end, consumed with guilt. I think it was telling that when the issue was raised about having children, she didn't say anything about having had a son. The lady she was caring for talked about being pregnant and of being proud of the unborn. I raised two children but still hold with me the two that didn't come to be - the pride is there. I don't know that it is always the case, but people I've met who have lost a child will still talk about them, even if it upsets them, but she didn't acknowledge having been a mother at all. She knew what she had done and although we don't know why, she was in a prison of her own guilt. I think that her walking through town in her nightdress, with everyone looking at her, was a metaphor for her feeling exposed as if she was being judged. Such a good film!

WOW! ALTER, this one was more than a home run! This time the ball cleared the bleachers and outta the park! FANTASTIC! I am not totally clear on WHY she killed her son, but my 1st thought was Munchhausen By Proxy? But regardless, her guilt was destroying her in the end. And then her ability to bring another potential victim into the world was taken away from her, as I see it, after the woman she cared for "found out" what she had done to her son, and she ended up with the same "sickness"! OMG! SO FRIGGING GOOD! In every aspect, it was great. The acting, the story, the cinematography, etc. Once again ALTER! Thank you for ALTERing my world, once again!

@vibhiverma3209
@vibhiverma3209 4 жыл бұрын
She probably did not want to have a kid in the first place but when she had one, she could not care after him without turning herself crazy with the stress. She most probably killed him in a head-space and before she got out of it, he was already dead. Which is why she always lived in guilt. As for what happened in the end, the lady sees her ghostly version that had killed her son and that ghostly version of her own turns her into a ghost. It probably means that her guilt consumed her to the point that she turned mental. It can also mean that she killed her own self because of the unbearable guilt. Maybe she stabbed herself in her womb cause that's where the baby once was, since she was bleeding and so was the flower pot (which represent a women's sex organs, in case you didn't know).

The story is really sad and the truth was shocking. Realizing that she's been sick all along, I mean, nobody just kills their own child and then makes it look like an accident and plays the grieving mother. This Story i could imagine in a long movie, with more elements and an exciting arc that can slowly build up. Great work, great story, thank you very much, that i can see this movie. I love me some ghost stories, and I do believe in ghosts, but anything that needs to be "let inside" is not a ghost, it is something pretending to be a ghost...ghosts by definition are non-corporeal. They can phase through things, like windows and doors. Anything with enough energy to become more than just a misty image of someone is not a ghost, in my opinion, however, there doesn't seem to be much consensus on naming the beings between a ghost and full-blown ghoul or demon...I think that's why people just call them ghosts. I don't know why this bothers me, but it does. Sorry. The video is awesome though, dark, and deep. Just how I like my horror. Bravo!

I absolutely love this film. It's one I bring folks to for a good horror experience. I gotta say though, the old thumbnail was so ominous and perfect where as this new one almost gives away the horror present near the end that was one part completely unexpected and one part absolutely mortifying! I'd love it if that old thumbnail would be reconsidered. Its vagueness really kept the silent mood of the story and inevitable surprise of the horror used at the end there a bit more in the dark (where all monsters are best kept!) All in all, regardless, my goodness what a wonderful short story. I love to watch it over and over and I always will.

Didn’t like the message it sent. About not having children and dying alone. We have to get a grip on our breeding and sending this message makes very one think that by not having kids you live a empty sterile existence ....NOT TRUE!! I never had kids and am having the fine of my life. And what kind of parent would I be bringing my child into a world that I know had to many people. Let me tell ya people. When this world goes south due to over population it’s is going to be UGLY! I mean ugly. And you’ve having your kids’ are the ones that made it that way.

Before the lady she was caring for said "what have you done" I thought that the young mother was struck with guilt because she had left her child unattended and he fell into the water and that the scene where she smothers the child was a symbolic representation if the guilt she felt, as if she has killed the boy with her bare hands, for not watching him closely. Then I got hit with the realization that she did harm her baby and it threw me off and made me feel furious and sad. Children should never pay for our troubles, that's not what they are brought to this world. A mother hurting her child is just something i cannot wrap my head around. I had post partum, a divorce, I've suffered with depression, I could never imagine a scenario wheere I would hurt my child like this, it's just so sad to know that it really happens. I just have a hard time feeling empathy for people who harm children, specially their own :( . Wonderfuly crafted film, even if I cried

Her monthly period would always give her the reminder for what she did. Every menstruation would mean a loss of a child, thus reliving her guild. Would it end when she reaches menopause?
@eternalchaos4447

@Kaseyin my opinion, It serves as a reminder of the child that she had lost/killed. She is probably suffering from psychological disorders from the hormonal imbalance caused by her period. There's no supernatural event here, just paranoia caused by her guilt and triggered by her period.

First time in many many years, a film has scared me. The woman's guilt will follow her until she stops menstruating. She is probably suffering from some kind of mental illness too. Would love to see a feature length film exploring this further.

I saw the ending as her being destroyed on the inside (uterus etc). Unable to ever bare another child. The intense screaming said to me that it was a hell of a lot more pain than having a menstrual cycle. That's my view anyways 😁

The end was NOT her having her "monthly " period as a few guys r trying to say lmao It was a miscarriage so she couldn't bare anymore children, a period is not that bloody or painful just as u said and you ar right! lol God knows its painful but not that painful or messy.

Beautifully done. I understand post partum depression which can last for years. Many people don't know that. If you don't get treatment it makes it severe. Thank goodness I didn't need treatment when I had it with my first born 25yrs ago. It lasted about 2mths.. Never thought about harming my son but I didn't want to take care of him either. If not for my roommate taking over Idk what would have happened. This film is so well done I can't even express the perfection into words..

I am always impressed by the production standards of this channel, but this was a cut above: bleakly atmospheric northern visuals worthy of Ingmar Bergman, excellent period detail, chilling and disconcerting avant-garde sonics, a set piece to put most commercial movies to shame (the burning painting scene), excellent performances, and subtle and effective homages: particularly the "Lights Out" scene, and the climax which reminded me of J-Horror revenge ghost stories such as "Ring" and "The Grudge" (which the twist, of course, that the revenging spirit was her own guilt / psychosis). Above all, the story was utterly gripping, nail-bitingly tense viewing. I hold this as a prime example of why I haven't bought a single horror DVD since finding Alter...

Yeah, as a norwegian, i tought the language sounded REALLY wierd. It was obviously neither eastern nor southern european, and for a few moments it sounded like some distorted dialect of swedish. Apparently, this is the fringe langugage called "Faroese", closely related to icelandic, and then de-facto more similar to old norse than anything spoken on the scandinavian mainland. You really had me confused there. How do you manage to make a film in this languge? Are there other films like this?

My guess is she probably killed her son over the stress because it's almost obvious she's a single mom and she couldn't take it any more. At the end she was bleeding out in my opinion to make sure she would not have any more children again to do the same thing, if she did not die anyways Love it alter!!!!😁

//Spoiler com'// I feel so sad for the child, he must felt terrified to be assassinate by his own mother, But in a way, I also feel sad for her. I think (it's my interpretation maybe I am wrong) she is severely mentaly ill, with strong hallucinations, maybe schizophrenia or something like this (I am not sure if the boy and herself was real ghosts or if it was part of her memories that her brain tried to erase to protect her of what she done). To realise what you did, to have this kind of guilt, just the thought of it give me heartache ^^" Anyway this short was an amazing work of horror and angst !

Such a sad tale from the start to the incredible ending . It had to be hard for her act this role out as well as she did as this is a topic that goes past scary movies. When you are moved in a way that leaves you feeling like tears whether or not you have kids that's very powerful writing & this one sure went right there.Very impressive yet sad as hell for everyone involved in the film . I guess as monsters go we humans can be worse than they can. This was nothing like i thought it would be when i watched it but it hit the spot between terror , evli, sorrow, regret & all things in between. GUILT.... In many ways this was scarier than most monster shorts & they are some of the best around. Great work by all that worked hard on this & it is true as ALTER says We deserve to be disturbed . To all commentators here what a joy to finally see everyone on the same page with great comments & for YT that in it self is scary as hell !!!
