More About WE DIE ALONE: Aidan, a young man crippled by loneliness and insecurity, wants nothing more than to experience love, but he compulsively ghosts any connections he makes through dating sites. Aidan's co-worker Elaine, generous with her advice and kindness to a fault, encourages him to put himself out there -- although, in her heart of hearts, she wishes he would pick up on her feelings for him.
Everything changes when Chelsea, beautiful and distant, moves into the apartment across the hall from Aidan's. The two feel an instant connection based on their refusal to engage in social norms, and bond over an unusual hobby. This chance encounter throws Aidan into a spiral of dangerous infatuation that will alter all three of their lives.
Touching on themes of loneliness, obsession, and the brutal nature of relationships, We Die Alone assesses the aftermath of what happens when three isolated people with different ideas of love become dangerously intertwined.

I personally think this story really fit the genre horror because it applied to real life and it prolly happens out there. Aidan with his social anxiety, and Chelsea who has big scars over her past and seems hard to cope from it relates to some of living persons.

quite the plot twist too because you always expect them to be the ones who are a killer. it's so predictable, sad pathetic loser becomes an obsessed man while the sweet girl is his victim. it was quite a shock when he was the victim this time. and I like it.

@kiv3745 it's literally never the quiet guy, it's always the loud mouths that end up abusing and in some cases even worse. It's a stereotype that comes from people fearing what they don't understand. They always make up these fake scenarios in their head when it's more likely that your buddy sitting next to you is the violent one

What I found interesting is that she found him "different" because he's not just someone with social anxiety; he's dangerous, he has the potential of becoming like her, a killer. But I do agree that it's a good plot twist, it deviates from the classic lines.

What WarmwaterSloth said, that you don't know what psychotic means. Read up about anxieties and social anxiety specifically, it's unrelated to what psycho means and is just a anxiety where the person becomes more nervous, maybe stressed (depending from anxiety type), etc., and can create depression in some cases (again, depending from anxiety type). It's basically a type of fear, but not exactly fear as normally people understand it. It can be confused/mixed with being shy. I have social anxiety, depression, anxious attachment style, and general anxiety from some things, and I am introvert by nature. I personally have had issues with meeting girls, I tend to be closed, not as talkative, quiet, but I open up only to people who are willing to get to know me. The fact that I am casually talking about it doesn't mean I open up, simply things like these - what video shows, not the horror part, but the general part before it turned out homicidal - makes me want to talk about it so that people understand more, and wouldn't think that these types of people are psychos or whatever bs you named it, these people are simply more genuine, more kind, etc. of course they lack the opposite things, but they can be gained if motivated and helped, instead of ditched aside and thrown out of society.... Eh, who I kid here, society is overrated and trash, social standards ruin society itself and others.

@@lukaskubinec9608 I think she felt justified. In her mind, she's saving another miserable soul from the pain she's went through by ending his life and she's also saving herself more heartache from the possibility with a man who could hurt her. She may also feel she's doing a service to other women who could be potential prey from him. (Btw, no matter how scary accurate I may be to a psycho killer's mindset, I need to say that I simply love role playing, so I often try to view another person's perspective and since I've been doing this my whole life, I've gotten pretty good at it, so just so no one gets freaked out by me and my words, I DO NOT think this way, for myself. You are right, she could and should just leave the situation and never talk to him again, but I wouldn't call her a bitch for the possibility of her mentality. She probably has a mental disability and then a self reinforcing behavior through her thoughts of justification.)

@@clomyst People with this kind of disorder do only think about themselves because they lack the ability to think of others yet, Empathy comes from interpersonal interaction. You have to know pain, experience suffering, and heal to develop empathy. People with social anxiety never get that experience, they only know themselves, a person they don't understand and in many cases do not like. This is why they need a strong, solid, controlled environment to grow and develop in. People like this need someone to coax them out of their shell. Someone exactly like Elaine in this story, Sadly, man needed a therapist too and did not have one. Therapist would have given him a safe place to process what he was trying to process to the psychotic chick. Then he probably could see and engage with the feelings Elaine was showing. Girl though? she was in a state of psychoses where she could only acknowledge the reality she understood. She lacked critical awareness due to what was probably past trauma. She needed to be in an institution and on meds. Point being though, both can be helped.

I LOVED this short. It made me feel SO uncomfortable, yet at the same time I found myself able to relate to both Aiden & Elaine. I'd love to see a part 2. Aiden wakes up in the hospital, no memory of what happened. National news runs the story & Chelsea realizes she has to " Tie up loose ends " . Elaine puts 2 & 2 together & not only realizes Chelsea did it, but that she has a 2nd chance at love W/ One of the good ones. Chelsea's back story is slowly revealed as she drives to the hospital. Will Chelsea or Elaine get to Aiden first? I'd have Chelsea get there first personally. She sees Aiden in the vacation shirt & sets a trap for Elaine by taking Aiden there & we as fans get to watch how the end plays out & which character/ characters " Die alone " 5 🌟 movie.

So people should worry about triggering others now? I don't give a rat's ass if someone is triggered as a result of what I say. This is the main reason that our freedom of speech is being stomped on. Way too many feelings in today's society. If you're easily triggered stay the hell away from me I don't want to hang around you anyway.

@@jerryleroy9187 I somewhat understand your point since I used to be told I can’t just say whatever’s on my mind but at this moment, my opinion’s a bit different. Personally I’m fine with changing my words a bit if it’s uncomfortable for some people but if they’re being unreasonable and we can’t get along, I’d just call it a day and find another friend.

A statement from director Marc Cartwright: "I first got the idea for We Die Alone while on a hike in Los Angeles. The park wasn’t overly crowded, but this was obviously a popular time to visit this particular trail. I studied the other hikers taking in the temporary escape from the city. Sometimes they offered a courtesy smile if their eyes met another person’s, but mostly they ignored each other. I began to think about interpersonal relationships and all of the missed connections that must occur by people not truly acknowledging the opportunities right in front of them. I believe everyone desires love or validation on some level and I enjoy mulling over the challenges in finding successful romantic relationships. For some, finding a partner is effortless, while others find it nearly impossible. I also believe that a person’s ability or inability to find connection is a choice - whether conscious or subconscious. We Die Alone is my way of touching upon the consequences of standing in our own way when attempting to build authentic romantic connections. Inspired by Alfred Hitchcock and his manner of discussing reality with a tragic twist, I felt this film would be best told in the dramatic thriller genre. I’m very proud of this movie. My goal was to make a film that not only takes people by surprise, but also leaves them thinking about the ways in which they connect to others."

This story is sad on many different levels. There is Aiden, obviously socially anxious to the point that it isolates him and furthers the problem. His coworker is a little more normal on the surface but if you read into it, she's older and still alone. Can you imagine what is reserving her from asking Aiden out? She must feel like a cougar and all the bad connotations in addition to being at that dead end job... I feel sad for her and wish she could just reach out and find a small gem of happiness not only for herself but for Aiden too. Lastly the murderer has been hurt and doesn't believe in love anymore. It paints the perfect picture of how everyone is alone because of what is mostly self-reservation. We are social creatures, to the point that in our primitive environment being outcast from our social circle meant a literal death sentence. It is sad to realize how easy it is to make connections, we are literally wired to need it, yet how our own inhibitions prevent us form reaching out. We are all scared of what society might think of us, that we rather face the deadly coldness of seclusion. Truly a sad reality for some. For those that do reach out and find a social circle, they are truly lucky even if they often take it for granted. I find a little bit of myself in each of the three main characters. I was first Aiden, socially anxious. For a time I was Chalsea, hurt and resigned to staying a lone wolf (minus the whole murdering part of course). For a time, I feared I would become Aiden's co-worker, but I have found connections and now have a more positive outlook in life.

True, when she hit him with the phone first that was completely justified as it was self defense. But when he started crawling away and she straddled him and hit him in the head multiple times with the whole phone and then put a plastic bag on his head and tried to bash his head in with.a rock, first degree aggravated attempted murder.

Loved it! Funny thing I was rather absently watching it and several minutes into it I realized that this was not a supernatural horror film which it was actually what I was looking for so I was about to "flip the page" and then the attack with the phone scene came and I was just like "hmmm, that's a great plot twist!" . I kept watching till the end and was not disappointed. Great work from everyone involved in it! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

The truth about this film, is that if you loves some one, don't be afraid to ask, Elaine likes him, but was too shy to ask Aidan, I'm sure Elaine and Aidan relationship would've been nice, instead meeting with this psycho Chic and end up dying alone.
