Stuff we use:
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/2t1n2hx
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv
COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - amzn.to/2t1M67Z

I agree. We are working on a sci fi horror suspense film. This was incredibly helpful. Because of the info we will now do a private screen showing before release

49:20 His point about accepting criticism was fascinating. It is a trade. I ask you to look at my art. You get to have your opinion on my art. "You had the privilege that they listen to you for two hours and now it's their privilege that, for the rest of your life, they're allowed to say whatever they want about your movie and you have to take it. Whether you listen to it or not is a different thing." There is a larger lesson in life, here.

This director still has the kid in his eyes that he hasn't lost. If he keeps that magic, he will keep making great films.

This is great industry chit chat but not much by way of the horror genre specifically. I feel like I was sold a false bill of goods and that the title of this video is misleading. 😕

Horror protagonists need to be simple, relatable and grounded people. That's why you rarely ever see a horror movie about the Queen of England. Someone who's in our plane of reality so the horror elements feels real. We're very unlikely to run into a serial killer, ghosts and demons aren't real. But making your protagonist like us puts those scary monsters in our world.

I totally disagree with the political direction he says is happening. I think the opposite is happening. there is a big shift toward victimhood. and the seemingly increased move to the right he's talking about is just because of the media always hyping up racial tensions (to serve their political side ) in short they are creating problems that to a larger extent don't even exist !! like... unimaginably it's like THEY WISH we were back 30 or 40 years ago. always being divisive with news and media really makes me believe this. for the writers out there.... how about some inspirational stuff for a change ??

I also found this interesting. Honestly, I think you are both identifying the same issues but understanding them in different ways. He is lamenting that the arts have become empty, no longer leading and inspiring people to be grander than themselves. You are lamenting that the media has become empty, no longer bringing people new understanding but merely attempting to twist and propagandize. The problem you both agree on is that people have lost touched with the universal virtues that used to bond communities and we have turned inward, overly-focused on our own self-interest and passion. If he is at all aware of the current state of the media, he couldn't disagree with you. The fact that they are attempting to ramp up racial tensions is undeniable. However, Trump was a sign of something different. He was the hand-grenade that Michael Moore talked about. You see it as a response and Stamm sees it as symptom. Despite the intense political disagreements I'm sure we three would have, I believe we can find agreement around the ideal that our media and narratives should unite and inspire us. Let's stop creating victims and start building heroes!
