And Denis Weavers character in duel didn’t do absolutely nothing; he didn’t deserve the revenge by the crazy trucker, but it wasn’t nothing. He was speeding and hassling the truck driver to get out of his way. The whole warning of the movie 🎥 is you never know who’s the crazier on the roads.

Sounds like one of my, many locals, over the last 50 odd years, called one of the many Green men. Great story. Have had a long personal history of pub life, since I was 11, when the old boys would play, cards, dominoes, table skittles and shoveha'penny. The Most haunted buildings/places in old Britain. I must confess to not being a fan of Vickers' tales, on the whole. This one is really good, though - understated, creepy & sad, hinting at a much bigger danger. I can easily imagine other stories following on from this one, and rather hope it happens. Thank you M.D. & HB.

Deidre woke to the plucking cell phone ringtone. Raising her head off a desk full of drool stained paperwork she looked at her phone. It wasn't ringing. A sudden realization hit her. She'd forgotten _Warren's_ phone. She pulled it out of her jacket with a frustrated "Shit shit shit!" The display read "Chavez." She thumbed to answer and yelled at it, *"You FOOL! Warren is DEAD!"* She mashed the phone on her desk edge til it folded 90˚ then went outside and chucked it into the Thames.

Unless the heart attack causes a cardiac arrest. Apparently the defibrillator can detect if its use is needed, so it shouldn't be a problem.

I am very confused... I just listened 3 times in a row... Here's what I gathered: - Arthur and Billy frequent Sheila's pub - One day Sheila is gone and this new creepy guy has replaced her - The new creepy guy takes some people upstairs to a private spot occasionally - Billy vanishes - The remaining waitress is spotted once more, seemingly very uneasy. Then she vanishes - Arthur's journey to the pub seems to get longer every time - In the presence of someone else, the journey is normal (taxi driver) - One night Arthur has a heart attack at the pub and the landlord has secretly, preemptively, hidden the defibrillator - Arthur dies Did I miss anything? How does this all fit together? Is it an excerpt? Is there more?

Not a fan of this one, I was thrown off by how "current" it was, and the lack of an actual point outside of torturing a man to dearh for what amounts to zero rhyme or reason made me feel like I wasted my time, I feel like I used to like this author but this was just ugly for ugliness sake. All that being said, you read it masterfully as per usual.
