Poor Sioux, rough delivery for first time. Thank goodness JR knows how to be a horse midwife. Also so glad that she went to vet to get post partem stitches. What I like most about your farm is that you don't hesitate to do whatever is necessary to medically take care of your horses. You make their welfare, their health a priority. Thank you for being such kind hearted people and such responsible owners. God must smile when he looks down on your farm. He gave us dominion over the animals and that includes caring for them; and you make Him proud. Bless your family and all your animals. ❤😊

I was just thinking that a lot of women DON'T get the luxury of post partum stitches, either because of where they live in the world, or just blatant medical neglect. I had wondered with the previous mare births on this channel, what would happen if a mare tore during birthing? Same as a human, who knew? Thank you for giving your mare the utmost care guys! And thank goodness for Jr always knowing what to do for horse midwifery! He probably saved Sioux from sustaining even more injuries!

When we were growing up, our family used to take road trips through the western states, spending a lot of time in the south-west. My family had a ton of good laughs at how us kids pronounced many of the names. Personal favorites were "Tuck-sun (Tucson, AR)" and "Al-buck-kwer-kwer (Albuquerque, NM)", LOL. So glad I grew up in Oklahoma, where I got plenty of practice with Native American city/town names!😊

You can just see how hard mama is working… but she’s so brave & courageous she is despite her exhaustion… that seemed like a HUGE baby for a maiden mare to expel.. I feel like she was comforted by you guy’s support but at the end when she felt like she didn’t need you any more she let you know you were dismissed… LOL another great video from you guys! 362 days 😳 God Bless her. My goodness!!! She’s a sweetheart and her baby is adorable. Thank you for sharing with us 💜 Awww just saw she tore 😞 poor thing. As a momma I know that feeling. I was a vet tech for 4.5 years while in high school and nursing school. This veterinarian was absolutely wonderful - his concern for keeping Lakota close to his momma because of her concern and nervousness meant everything. What a blessing.

Thanks for the update! I'm glad Sioux is healing up. I'm wondering about the possibility of later breeding her with dear Oliver. Would that foal be bigger than Lakota --- great name! ---- and, if so, would it make the birth more difficult and maybe endanger Sioux? That was an amazing birth, never seen that before in my life, Sioux did so well, her baby boy is so handsome, the baby horse just wanted to stand up straight away, which he did, that’s incredible, it puts us humans to shame, mother and son are beautiful, they have both had a very eventful time.thank you for letting us see the birth. This was the most relaxed and best view I have seen with a mare giving birth. It was like a Disney movie, so calm and Moma looking after her large Colt. And the wisest of helping....not too much and not too little just enough so that nature could be in charge... very beautiful Mare and Colt...
