My mom would play Leroy Anderson all the time back in the late 60's- early 70's when I was young at that time. My mom passed away back in December- and listening to this music takes me back in time! Thank you for sharing this beautiful music! ❤

Mr. Sutton, I can't thank you enough for the love and care you have shown with so many compositions by the wonderful Leroy Anderson. I especially appreciate this particular piece, because--believe it or not--this is the first time I have ever encountered it! Delightful as always with Anderson, and your slides provide the perfect accompaniment. Again, many thanks from your grateful friends at 100 Year Jukebox!

I had a Leroy Anderson album on a 45 record back in the 1950s that I played over and over until it wore out. He was one of my favorite composers back in the day. Still love his music even now.

This is one of my favorite Leroy Anderson songs, I have also played it in a amazing community band. Thank you so much Nigel for the amazing assortment of songs you have. being only 15 I'm trying my best to introduce this generation to amazing music such as this.

+Cyrus Exum Dear Cyrus, it is a pleasure. I am really pleased you enjoy these videos. Not as much fun, though , as p[laying them for real in a band. I came to love the music of Leroy Anderson late in life, preferring from an early age the great classical masters, such as Richard Strauss, Mahler and Rachmaninoff ( to name but a few!). Yet, now I find his music so wonderful and evocative. Thank you. Nigel

Nigel, i have always loved Leroy Anderson. I'm 72 and his music was always on radio when i was a young lad. I love the old photos you post with his music. The serenata photos of New york were wonderful. I love that city, and was there in 1974. Horse and buggy photos were wonderful too. Congratulations.

My Grandparents had a horse named "George" and they would take their produce to town by wagon, (30 mi), to sell every Saturday. When the day was over they'd curl up in a quilt in the back of the wagon and say "Take us home, George!" and they'd wake up in the driveway at home several hours later. They may invent a car that can do that someday but so far NOT. Thanks Nigel! Enjoy your music and pics very much.

WONDERFUL STORY FROM YOUR FAMILY! OUR IMAGINATION ALLOWS US TO BE THERE, RIDING ALONG IN THAT WAGON. WE'RE MISSING SO MUCH TODAY,, DRIVING ALONG,,,,, WAY TO FAST,,,, AND OUR PROBLEMS AREN'T BEING HANDLED WITH THE TIME AND EFFORT NEEDED TO TRULY SOLVE, AND THEN MOVE ON TO THE NEXT ONE! YES,,, WE ARE TRAVELING WAY TOO FAST................. IN REVERSE....................!!!

What fun!! I remember a man coming to our house in a two wheel cart to plow our garden with his mule and plow. And people would come to the farmers market in Norfolk in wagons bringing their produce. This I saw from the bus....a long time ago

Yes, 'alger'- this is from his album "Leroy Anderson Conducts His Own Compositions" {Volume 2} {featuring his "Pops" Concert Orchestra}, originally released in 1951. A later recording added the sound of a whip at 2:06.

Nigel Fowler Sutton Can I ask you on an average how long it takes to assemble each video from research to final product and where is the labor most intensive? Thank you!
@NigelFowlerSutton10 жыл бұрын
songanddanceman100 With these musical videos showcasing the work of Leroy Anderson, on average, just a few hours. Once I have a theme in mind, I just source the photographs, and then assemble the video. With more serious videos, the process can take many days especially if I include a commentary or picture name. Sourcing the material is the easy part. Nigel
