I decided to take horsechesnut along with biorutin for a varicocele and after taking the horsechesnut I had some side effects is true to use it on an empty stomach alot of people say you should use with food
@NTLnutrition4 жыл бұрын
Hello Jordan, Thank you for your question. Young, fresh nuts contain some alkaloid saponins and glucosides, which can be poisonous when eaten. Be sure to only supplement with processed extracts from trusted sources. Extracts are standardized to the percentage of the active ingredient called aescin that they contain. Optimal aescin content is considered to be 17% or greater for supplementation at the recommended dose of 300mg two times daily. These extracts are generally found in capsule form either alone or in combination with other vitamins and herbs for vein health. Also, some people experience dizziness, headache, upset stomach or itching while taking horse chestnut. For specific dosage recommendations, check the bottle for best time to take it and if you find taking it with food is best for you, continue to take it with a light snack. what about horsechest nut powder is that also effective if i put it in a smoothie or is it better with capsules?
@NTLnutrition4 жыл бұрын
Hello Ali, Generally, if the supplement is in powder form, it is formulated to bypass the stomach and be absorbed by the body; therefore a powder form would be ok to put in smoothies. However, if it comes in a capsule form, the capsule may be the part that allows the supplement to get through the stomach acid so it may be best to keep it in tact. You can try to open the capsule and use the powder inside to see if you feel you're getting the same benefits if you like. If you'd like more info on Horse Chestnut, have a look at our article as well www.nationalnutrition.ca/articles/supplements/horse-chestnut/ Stay healthy!

how can i take the horse chestnut without the bloating?
@NTLnutrition5 жыл бұрын
Hello Fifi Leigh, Sorry to hear you are feeling bloated after taking Horse Chestnut. Some things you can try are the following: - Reduce the amount you are taking by 25% - Change the format you are taking it in, some people notice issues when taking it as a capsule compared to either mixing it in something or just taking the powder version. - Talk to your doctor about it, could be something else is reacting to the horse chestnut negatively. - Could just be a supplement that your system doesn't like and has a minor allergic reaction. I know some people who have a latex allergy react to horse chestnut, so you may have a similar issue. Hope some of these tips help to make you feel a bit better, have a great day!

Thank you 🙏🏻
@NTLnutrition4 жыл бұрын
Hello Utkarsh, Thank you for your question. Horse Chestnut works to support veinous health in many ways. It is a direct tonic substance for veins and valves, a source of nourishment that enhances their structure. It has been shown to close small gaps in veins that allow fluid leakage. In addition to its structural support for veins and valves it has a regulating function relating to both capillaries and veins that involves ion channels and the flow of calcium in particular. Therefore to answer your question, Horse Chestnut works to support the vein, rather than thin the blood flow. Hi Goggyseal, No you don't want to take Horse Chestnut before a surgery since it acts like a blood thinner and this can cause complications during the surgery. If you are taking it and have a surgery coming up really soon, a month or less, we recommend talking to your surgeon/doctor to let them know what you are taking. This way you can be as safe as possible. Wish you all the best, have a good day!

What is the absolute best way to store chestnuts so you can eat them long after the holidays are over?
@NTLnutrition4 жыл бұрын
Hello Richard, Thank you for your question. Fresh chestnuts, still in their shells, will keep for about a week in a cool, dry place. To store them longer, place them in a plastic bag - perforated to allow for air circulation - and refrigerate them for up to a month. We hope you found this helpful and to learn more about chestnuts, have a look at our article: www.nationalnutrition.ca/articles/supplements/horse-chestnut/ Stay healthy & well!

Can chestnut cure spider veins permanently ?
@NTLnutrition5 жыл бұрын
Hi Abhishek Bhattacharya, as good as Horse Chestnut is at helping improve the condition for people who have spider veins, it's not a permanent fix for everyone. Some people have reported back saying it has solved the issue for them and haven't had issues with it since. But everyone is different and there is a lot of factors that go into it, so what may permanently cure one person may not be the same for another. Have a great day!

Those pills make me sick. What can I do about that?
@NTLnutrition5 жыл бұрын
Hi Maja Babic, If you can't take pills there are a few other forms you can get supplements in, you can look for something in powder, liquid, cream, or spray form. Another thing you can look at trying is to open your capsule and take just the power inside of it. So open the capsule and pour the powder straight into your mouth with water, you can also add it to a smoothie or shake, add it to a type of food, etc... That may be an easier way of getting the Horse Chestnut without having to take a capsule. Let us know if you need anymore help, have a great day!

Should have taken a second to mention if horse chestnuts are edible when cooked properly.
@NTLnutrition5 жыл бұрын
Hi Markkeogh18, Sorry for not including that in our video, we overlooked that. For those who are wondering, Horse Chestnut is not an edible nut that you can eat. There are two types of Chestnuts that people use, you have the American or Sweet Chestnut, which is the one that people commonly roast or boil and eat. And then you have Horse Chestnut, which is a non-edible version that contains a poison called aescin, which can induce vomiting, diarrhea and more serious issues. No matter how much you cook or boil Horse Chestnut it is not a safe nut to eat. Supplements are fine to take since they use an extract of the nut and don't include aescin in it. I hope that answered your question, have a good day.
