Hi Gary. Just got word you published the video! You're doing a good job! If you wanted I could have sent you the DWG files, it was just too many for etsy to download but can email them fine. Part L is the nostril and is formed like a half cone with the long taper pointing down.... If you get what I mean. Any problems feel free to ask. I'll do a follow up video addressing any of your difficulties. All the very best and thank you so much for the shout out!

Thanks Adam! I designed it based on a an Arab cross that my wife used to look after, he was a very special horse called Saracen. I've been developing this design method for a long time now, its only now that I've been able to give it the time it needs. Cheers J

Looking good Gary, I bought the pattern from Joshua a while ago but haven't got round to it yet, I had enough trouble trying to enlarge the PDF files for printing as not very computer literate, very helpful watching you build it as Joshua makes it look so easy :-) like you I am baffled as to how the hell you would go about making a pattern for a 3D object?

There are computer programs that use scanned photographs of an object to turn them into flat objects that can then be welded together. There is another maker who used a program to make a fox. It took him 50 hours of welding and grinding to finish it.

Different companies charge different rates. When I got that one done I think it was £135. But when I ordered a batch of six from another company it came down to £35 a set. Send them the drawings, they will have to quote you before they go ahead and you don’t have to go with it. If I’m doing a new job I send the drawings to half a dozen different companies and pick the best.

@@Shadeskast The Diploma of Merit is the award that entitles you to be known as an Associate. It's the first of the awards the Company can confer. Then there's the Bronze Medal (which entitles you to be called a Fellow) followed by the Silver and Gold Medals (neither of which raise you above a Fellow). Gold medal winners are like hens teeth and considered Master Blacksmiths but there are a fair few AWCB's and FWCB's floating around. Licentiate is the last individual award you can go for and is given to those who've made a significant contribution to the craft, usually through education, public awareness etc. None of which applies to Gary though, as a Farrier he's got his own Worshipful Company ;)
