My daughter’s high school mascot is the ram. I’m going to have to learn to get good at these.

I have watched a lot of Ram head videos and I really like the way you made the horns. It looks like a Big Horn sheep we have in Alberta, going too use this way for sure , thanks for sharing. Going too make the horn tip go just past the eye so it a legal ram and a keeper,lol.

Very awesome visual lesson my boyfriend is an aries and will definitely want to try this is that just a cold chisel you split with
@KjZiturKensCustomIron6 жыл бұрын
Thank you Nichole! The splitting was done with a hot chisel and the grooves in the horns were done with a small radiused hand fuller. Let us know if you have any other questions!
@andregrenier86974 жыл бұрын
how long did it take you to make it? and how long are the horn
@KjZiturKensCustomIron4 жыл бұрын
I think it takes me about 30 minutes to do the rams head. I split the horns about 2-1/2".
@TheOldaz14 жыл бұрын
A bit different to others I've seen, I like the horns done this way.

When you fold the horns back, are you doing a weld?
@dbissdude7 жыл бұрын
I'm referring to just before you add the eyes
@KjZiturKensCustomIron7 жыл бұрын
No, it is not welded. If you get the fold right you don't have to weld it.
@myownspiritlevel4 жыл бұрын
Looks more like a bull than ram. I'm going to do one with horizontal slits for the nostrils and move the eyes more toward the side of the head. We'll see how it goes.

In 40 years ive never found a reason or understood why tap the anvil between blows
@ryouean7 жыл бұрын
how are you holding the iron while you hammer/split it??? . . .
@KjZiturKensCustomIron7 жыл бұрын
I'm holding the iron in my hip. You can see a *very* brief example of this in our Rapid V-Bit Tongs Instructional Video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fovaZWOFrrCVmqMm51s
@randygriffin48213 жыл бұрын
You ever thought about quieting that anvil down? Don't like wearing earplugs when watching videos.
@KjZiturKensCustomIron3 жыл бұрын
Personally I like the sound a good anvil makes. I apologize that it bothers you.
@randygriffin48213 жыл бұрын
Cool. But it hurts my ears.
@davidlange79165 жыл бұрын
nice video but lord put a damn chain around that anvil. it would drive me nuts!!! I had to shut the sound off
@KjZiturKensCustomIron5 жыл бұрын
I don't recommend wrapping a chain around your anvil. There are much too many useful places for shaping and bending on the waist and base of the anvil to cover it up with a chain. As for the ringing, that's why we have hearing protection and a mute button!
