The reaction to raising your hands or sudden movement was probably a quirk from an abusive past, being scared of sudden movements of kicking or whipping, and raising your hands to hit the poor boy.

Any creature, human or otherwise, that has a natural curiosity and eagerness to life is susceptible to being bullied and shutting down so afraid in the wrong circumstances. As a teenager I had a 17 hand American paint she was smart an gentle.loved her to death.. when our horses got old we retired them to beautiful pasture with treats now an then an grooming.i feel for those who don't get that life an a yearly vet checkup an a vet when needed..sad what alot of them go through.

What sort of work are you planning to do with him? The sky's the limit with this guy.... Bubby looks like a 'do everything' sort of guy.... You've done a wonderful job training him. Bubby is smart, well-mannered, a real good boy... a real credit to you as a trainer.

Thank you! right now we are just having fun as he is 2.5 years old. One day hopefully he will be a hunter/ jumper. Mostly he will just be a pleasure horse. I got him with the intent to sell him, however, I do not see that happening! so I'm in no rush to start him.

I just love watching what you’ve done with Buddy. I’m so sorry about your house fire and all that the horses went thur Bc of it, esp Buddy. But you’ve shown how resilient horses are and how sensitive and curious they can be! Buddy seems like such a fun horse and his happiness shows through. Thank you for rescuing and putting in the work. He is 2.5. It depends on a lot of things like your weight vs the horses, your riding ability, and your patience
