PREVENTING ANIMAL CRUELTY AND TORTURE ACT (PACT) signed into law November 25th 2019. This important legislation criminalized the acts of animals being crushed, burned, drowned, suffocated, impaled, or SUBJECTED TO OTHER FORMS OF CRUELTY. This is a real law, friends, more people than just rescuers need to keep bringing this to light. When these horses are brought into the auction in such horrendous conditions, Rain Rot, broken bones, starvation, emaciation, Strangles, arthritis so bad that they can't hardly walk, Lameness, you name it. When those horses are brought into the auction, sellers have to give their names and addresses. They need to be turned in to law enforcement, many of these acts of abuse is a Felony in all 50 states. Thank you Horse Plus for the wonderful work you do to rescue the voiceless who can't help themselves. They are victims at the hands of mankind.

For me, their greatest work is that they take the infirm and have them checked thoroughly for rehab. And if rehab is NOT an option, they don't mess around, they give the poor one lots of love, a wonderful feed, then put them to sleep and out of the misery their life has been and would have continued to be.

Bless You ALL for what you do for these beautiful creatures who have been so abused... Including those poor horses who are suffering so much... The fact, that they may experience a few moments of peace, and no pain, prior to departing this realm, instead of horror and being terrified up to the last second.... well, words are not enough to explain my respect for your Humanity.

Thank you for having the courage to do the thing that their neglective owners did not, love them and let them cross the rainbow bridge. Animals don't deserve to live with the pain especially when they give you unconditional love. I hate people who take advantage of this and can't do the right thing by them and love them back enough to take care of them and do the right thing by them when necessary.

I think some people don't realize the horrific experiences those horses would encounter prior to being slaughtered. Even if they're not "saved", they are relieved of so, so much suffering.

It's sadly common nowdays to "save" every animal, no matter how much pain they are just fill them with meds and they can be seemingly healthy for not trained eye. A lot of people think pain meds will take any nerve pain etc. away but thats far from truth.

I agree, There's a huge difference between a kill shelter (who puts down animals because they have behavioral issues they don't have the staff nor the funding to take the time to help), and not letting an animal suffer when there is nothing that could be done. They really do correct small problems that can be helped with a good farrier, but sometimes the damage is just too much too late.

The last shots of the horses eating made me think to myself that I would like to see more of their lives after the auction after intake. We normally don't get to see much until adoption becomes available. I would like to see more of the middle. Like temperaments and feeding. How you deal with an animal that was starving to now when they might over eat and do harm. Vet check ups later. First groomings and such. I am interested in their progression.

I rescued five horses at one time that were starving and being left for dead. Nursing them back to health was a long journey. Reintroducing them into food took time and they had to be watched so they wouldn’t colic. Then skin/hair care I would wash with Dawn dish soap because it doesn’t irritate the skin and helps with rain rot quickly and safely. They were in rehabilitation for months after that and lived ling happy and healthy lives. They all could be ridden just fine and instantly knew from day one that I was there to help them.

You guys are being very thorough and realistic about the conditions of the horses. Hard decisions can easily be the right ones, but not everyone understands that and they end up being selfish instead of doing what is best for the animal. It takes kindness and education to evaluate well. You do a great job at that.
@XxShellyW13xX
@XxShellyW13xX 3 жыл бұрын
That's so interesting that you put it that way. I have a harsher way of thinking about the people who become selfish and do nothing about the situation with the horse. They are being extremely selfish, running away from their problems and dealing with the emotions of putting a horse down. When your veterinarian does the procedure, you don't even have to be there to see it happen, as long as he knows what horse and where you put him. Maybe under the big oak tree where they stood in the shade. Perhaps a corner of the pasture, or a sunny spot where you and your horse used to go to hang out. Someone who can have a grave dug deeply enough can bury the horse. All you need to do is bring your horse to the spot, wait until he's given the heavy tranquilizer to lay him down. And then leave. Or, you might even have found a new strength that you never knew you had and decide that it really isn't so bad when they pass. Quietly, peacefully, with no fear. Finally, they have peace.
@tammywooley2635
@tammywooley2635 2 жыл бұрын
I agree wholeheartedly with you. No one understands that if you think about it if they are suffering let them go. People don't like to suffer even with medical care an animal is feeling twice as worse without it. Be kind to your babies if they are suffering, yeah you miss them but they will be put of pain and happier once they cross the rainbow bridge.

I totally understand and agree with the last act of kindness for the horses that have been so unfortunate to have belonged to humans didn’t do what was necessary for these beautiful, sentinent animals. They are lucky to have been rescued from slaughter and the horrors that brings. My only thought is…..isn’t it possible to give them maybe a couple of days of love, sunshine and good food before they are euthanized? It’s such a short time from the auction , then the transfer “home” and right to the exam.. on to a bucket of grain and some hugs … just hours really…..hardly enough time for them to really remember the kindnesses. Please realize Tawnee, I am not criticizing and I love you and your team for what you do ….and how much care and the respect you show to your rescues…I just would like to see them happy and living the good life for a couple of days before their death.

So many of the people I rode with as a kid would just sell off their horse as they outgrew them - without a care for where it would end up as it aged. It always angered me. My boy was with me til he was an old man, then to my uncles to be a pasture ornament with 2 retired police horses where he died naturally. I couldnt have it any other way for my horse who was not only my servant, but my BEST friend.

Also, check their website as most horses that do survive quarantine when their are put up for adoption their photos, names and other information is on there for you to view. Those at don’t, obviously won’t be there or could be transfers. Would be interested in to know how many they have given the last act of kindness. www.horseplushumanesociety.org/adoption/

Loved the laughing horse. You guys are so kind in rescuing horses which will receive the last act of kindness. The first act of kindness was getting rescued by Horse Plus.

I'm very excited to see the Tennessee University joining forces with you. Their representative looked like she was very emotional at one point. Looking forward to watching their progress. Love what your doing. 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 💘 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🐎' s 2 I don't know what it is about mini's but their terrible about giving shots to. I used to have a mini herd of 5 and dreaded shot time. Tiny but a firecracker when your trying to give a shot.

We all hope that the University keeps in contact with you so as to keep us updated on what they're doing. I'm really interested to see what happens. Maybe you guys could take a few trips and do some updates. Maybe pass on some information that we could do to help a horse in need.

Thanks for what you do. Its easy for people to criticize who do nothing to help. Its very stressful on animal rescuers to make the hard decisions.
