This was almost unbelievable. Matt being the perfectionist, Jesse being mister "love first, everything else second" ... but then, then, "the magic." In two years, Emporio has changed physically and become more confident. He is a powerful stallion successfully trained for dressage. Matt and Jesse are excellent equestrians but they have different riding styles, goals and personalities. Matt, perfectionist, gives a lot of information to Jesse who enjoys the experience with more informality and his usual good humour (the spurs... hilarious!!!). Nevertheless, Jesse did a great job. “Pirouette in the middle, and you just don’t talk …” Jesse has such a soft, kind way…. You can really see how he tries to understand Jesse and how his body reacts to him in another way than he does to you. Him and you are like a buttered machene together because you know each other so well. The small mistakes are less obvious and now you can really see how well Emporio is ridden because he really wants to understand Jesse and he's also doing a really good job considering riding with a double bridle and spurs is not his typical choice of tack. Thank you for this great video, it's really entertaining and educading for a rider like me who shares a lot of similarities to the way Jesse rides.

Its really nice to see the difference between Jesse and Matt, they are both amazing in their own right. You can really feel the professionalism from Matt, that he is really focused on so many things at once, how it looks and how to perfect things. Where Jesse is more natural and relaxed, for him the Horse doesn’t have to obey him, for him its a dance between them both. He wants something from the horse, but the horse needs to feel itself too and feel free. I can for sure understand how Jesse is feeling, because this is so different from his own style and with his adhd its really hard to get a lot of information at once, when its not something you are used to or comfortable with. @lindafreij47492 жыл бұрын
I think both your styles are highly diffrent. Matt trains Emporio in one way and he probably wants Jesse to experience him fully to see how much he has learned. But what Matt dosen't realyze is that it dosen't matter, the ride gets to tecnical and Jesse zones out. He plans his ride by feeling, Matt plans his ride by performance. That dosen't mean that Jesse isn't a skilled rider, more so that he has to get a feel of the horse first and then decide what his plan for the ride is. Matt is very skilled and is very diciplined and I understand that he dosen't see a training session in the arena as a joyride. But I also think he needs to lower his expectations a bit, espesically when someone with a whole other riding style rides his horses. But great work, Jesse, you are a really great rider and I think riding Emporio was great for you even though it's not your typical way of riding. And Matt Emporio is stunning! You have done great work with him! Next time with Etro let him have a feel first and then correct him so you don't over do it and I think Jesse has more training then people give him credit for, he just don't ride his horses in that style and that is ok. 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Jesse = the patience of a Saint Matt - God bless him - is the epitome of a ‘Mother Hen’ Jesse might not have all the technical detail down pat, but neither did the likes of Hester or Dujardin in the early days. That took many years to hone. But what all 3 have in common is a very natural affinity with horses. A lot of riders have the technical prowess but the magic really comes from the strong relationship and bond one has with their horses. Something many overlook. Jesse has that gift.

Watching this, I found myself squeezing with my knees, adjusting invisible reins, trying to process all the instructions along with Jesse. It was a great chair workout! And Emporio reminds me of a Ferrari-- all that explosive power just waiting for the right commands.

I would get so stressed with an instructor like this! 😆 I'm glad Jesse seems have the necessary chill to counter it!

You two should make a reality show. I always get the giggles listening to you banter together. One thing is for sure - your four-legged friends always receive the best treatment and love.

What a reminder of how much horse Emporio really is. Huge Stallion indeed. Jesse looks great on him and did a fantastic job processing and implementing all the instruction! 😉 Loved the video and of course let's see Jesse on Etro. Much fun!

It went really well! Emporio looks so stunning and has come such a long way. The great training is showing a lot. I remember well where you started! Matt and Jesse interacting - pure comedy! 😂 It’s so interesting to see you both trying out the other horse. Both of you ride great and kind, horse oriented. Yet still very differently. „Come on Jesse, ride the horse!“ „More!“ „You can do it!“ „I think he needs a second.“ Absolutely hilarious! I like you even more now Jesse! Pleeeeeease ride Etro!

Amazing , i still cant get over how different emporio looks in a walk casual compared to head held back and moving forward... almost like a second mold!!! I really enjoyed jesse riding him. It just goes to show how well trained your horse is and the difference in the ways you both ride and the way your horses are different in riding styles. Id really enjoy seeing jesse ride etro!!! In fa t id like to see you ride him as well matt!!! You were doing a month by month but then mustve gotten busy with the shows. Thank you for sharing!!!

Fun times always!! *(edited to add)* on second view one realizes how hard it is to ride someone elses horse when they are watching. Jesse was hitting overload in try to take it all in and possibly being afraid of making a mistake. I thought Matt handled it well because sometimes you want to freak out but doing that would have been a mess. This is what really knowing a person does for you.

I love how you are just such beautiful horsemen in your own way. Jessie, you are so compassionate and supple and in tune through gentleness. And Matt, you are such a correct dressage rider and also so in tune with the horse. It's very entertaining to watch you two together as you both bring such unique horsemanship to the table and of course are both so cute and funny together! I always enjoy when your videos pop up:) 💕

Emporio is an excellent horse, and Matt is a great trainer/instructor. I know it seems like he is overwhelming Jesse but that is just two different personalities. In high level competition instruction I would have killed to have a trainer like Matt, very blunt, direct, clear, but also quite kind and forgiving of mistakes. Great video!!

I loved this video because for the first time I could actually SEE the subtle differences in the movements when Jesse made the changes as Matt directed him. Cool video!!!

Riding a different horse AND such a large and strong horse as Emporio had to have been a great challenge. I was exhausted for you Jesse. It might have been helpful to have had a verbal tutorial ahead of riding. Or is it more effective while you’re riding? It seemed a lot of information at one time, and when you ride the movement is so quick you don’t really register the change. My brain would have been concentrating on staying on and not tipping over and falling off. But I’m not a professional at all. But I’m sure the thought went through his mind. Well done Jesse. You’d did very well. A lot to take in. Emporio did well too. Matt, I compliment you on your patience and knowledge in your teaching. You both have such a great sense of humor. I enjoy it very much. Yes, it will be interesting to see Jesse ride Etro.

it was really fun to see Jesse on Emporio, I thought you guys should make it a series where you switch horses so it's not just once a year, because you are such different riders and can definitely learn something from each other and each other's horses. and it could be super cool to see Jesse at Etro :D

Wow, it's amazing that we can get along with our trainers and our horse/barn friends--Matt and Jesse obviously care for and respect one another and even THEY differ on what's best for the horse, how to interact with the horse, etc. I saw an interview with Boyd Martin once and he said that he and his wife couldn't share a barn or else they would end up divorced LOL. This really goes to show how individual we all are in interacting with our horses. There are as many opinions as there are riders! ;-)
