The horse actually bit the jockey, he was interviewed coming back in after winning the race, when he showed his hand slightly bleeding and said, yep he got me.

@@melissaspake7727 That maybe so, but I watched the race at the time and the interview with william Buick as he was coming back in, when Ole Bell said to him ( jockingly) looks like the other horse nearly bit you * when Buick replied * yep he got me * and showed his hand bleeding ( not too much ). But yes it may have tried to bite the other other horse, but failed 😁

The horse saw the jockey using the whip and bit him , if u notice the jockey on the horse who bit is not using a whip, some young horses have traumas associate with whip use and they get agitated when they see whips as they grow older 😅. Anyways funny comments tho

Personally, I would call it defense. Didn't hit the offending horse hard. More of a bonk. But if the horse had grabbed his leg he could have pulled the jockey off and it would have likely killed him. Professionally? Not a clue.
