If you didn't already know: Skydog Sancutary in Oregon works to reunite mustang families from horses captured by the BLM and others that have been adopted and need new homes. The brand on the mustang can identify the management area that the individual was from. Skydog relys on years of photography and person interaction with the horse bands to identify family groups. They go to great lengths to recover band members and return them to their 9000 acre ranch in Oregon to be free once more. It seems like you are getting quite a few mustangs, and I wanted you to know - in case you don't - that there is a resource for them.

From the get go, this intake had a heartbreaking start with a horse down in the trailer. and he did not make it. Several others were in bad shape, partially blind, and yes, just thrown out into the trash. I don't know how human beings can be so cruel. This slaughter pipeline must be stopped. Our country has to pass a NO SLAUGHTER LAW and individuals have to become accountable. I don't know how to do this as our world has become out of control. Thank you, HPHS for saving who you could today. I watch every episode and cry every episode. I am the proud owner of my 7th horse since I was 10 years old and treat each of them like they were royalty. Can't fathom any of them ending up with a horrendous death. God bless you all people of HPHS.💔😠🙏🐴🦄
@MollyGrue1Ай бұрын
the problem is, there actually IS no slaughter in the US, as far as I know, I'm in Europe. So, they ship the poor things from one auction to another and from there, finally, to Mexico or Canada. Many of the creatures would end their horrors sooner if there were slaughter facilities in the US (please correct me if I am wrong there). As cruel as it might seem: The shipping and trading the sickest and sadest further and further is the worst part. Please kill me, call me names, if you feel like it, but death is by far not the worst. The pushing around, no food, no water, unattended sickness and wounds and issues, bad handling prolonged, THATS worst. Its human obligation to let a sick or injured animal, GO FAST BEFORE long suffering, in case there is no treatment possible. My own horse went this way, no slaughtering, no hauls, no giving him away after 26 years. It was my plight and responsibiliy to be together until the end. If you can't, don't take ANY animal in your hands. Personally, I would not eat horse meat, but many in Europe do, i. E. more frequently in Austria, France or Italy, and its meat like any other. The point is the "harvest method" which is often horrible - for any kind of animal, pigs, sheep, cattle, poultry, rabbits, whatever: The long hauls, the conditions. Here in Europe, its illegal to slaughter horses that had medication before, they have to be put down otherwise. So far... well, some go around that. Some years ago, a bunch of jerks illegally imported loads of poor sick critters from Romania, and sold them for very cheap lasagne. (They haul them anyway from east of Europe to south of Europe, lets say). It was a scandal, the meat wrongly declared, of course (major crime in Europe!) and a running joke about supermarket food ... humans are.... incredible, after cheap meat... already like Zombies. Resume: All that long haul business of living meat has to be stopped for good, thats the point. The slaughter inhibition is good for nothing. (please protest if I am wrong! concerning laws).

To think that horse that was down in the trailer was going to have to endure the journey to Mexico - I can’t even imagine the horror story that unfolds there. It’s a bloody disgrace. Why the hell doesn’t the USA slaughter their own horses.

@@sallynolan5928 its also a disgrace of owners to bring animals into this state and then sending them away no matter what. Thats another core problem.

I watched an HPHS video posted about a year ago where a person who had worked in a feedlot/killpen talking about the killpens. At the end of the video, you tell us that trying to save one horse by purchasing it from such a place, can result in harm to other horses. Perhaps HPHS make another video educating the public how it affects other horses, and how what you do is different, or has a different result. Add in what needs to change to end this entire problem for good and what the public can do to help make that change happen.
