I have 17 Z06 manual. The C8 is to me more European than American muscle. Corvette is American super car. When they tossed the engine in back to me it lost a lot of American glamor. Sure the rear engine is ok and prolly performs better at some task but im old school hot rod muscle. The flat plan crank sounds great ! But don’t sound American!!! That for me was enough to choose C7. Glad I did. And Dam sure needs to be manual shift.

For me, the exhaust note from the C8 Z06's flat-plane crank engine isn't really a good selling point. I prefer the exhaust note from a traditional cross-plane crank V-8 engine. I love both generations, though. The ideal C8 for me would be the E-Ray. With the E-Ray, you get the body of the Z06 / ZR-1 and you can add a ZR-1 style wing and other exterior mods like a front & side splitters and rear diffuser with the bonus of having a cross-plane crank engine.

I love the sound on the C7 but for some reason, that similar sound on a C8 just seems out of place to me. The C8 Z06 is definitely the better sounding car in the C8 lineup in my opinion the crossplane crank just doesn't feel at home on the C8.

C8 ZO6 is the car no doubt that sexy body and killer exhaust note is intoxicating , but the C7 Z06 has it's upside same horsepower half the sticker price of a C8 ZO6 and easier to maintain with lower maintenance cost for a first time Corvette owner this would be my car .

There are four mods that you can do to the C8 ZO6 to get about 50 to 60 more horsepower but the sound that you get out of it makes it seem like you gave it an extra 1000 💪🏼

Thanks for the Z06 review. I have tried C8s, but the interior is just too tight (all types of seats and the overall claustrophobic feel of the interior) for me compared to my 19 GS. I hope that the C8 interior revision opens it up more, otherwise, I'll keep my 19.

I will also say as far as car modifications go the C7 are equal on styling “mods” as the corvette guys call them. When I get asked about “mods” from another Corvette enthusiasts on my C7Z my habit is to only talk about HP modifications. In cranking up HP the C7Z wins that arena thus far until the aftermarket keeps cracking the ECUs but it is very expensive compared to the C7 which was very expensive compared to the C6.

I have a stingray c8 which I find fabulous. How much better is the Z06? I can’t see paying 130k for 170 more hp. Maybe when Z06’s hit the bottom and they are discounting them by 10-15k I will test drive it.

I had a C7 Z06 and now have a C8 Z06 convertible and the C8 is a quantum level above. I’m not saying the C7 wasn’t fun - it was, it was a good daily fast car and I enjoyed it. I disagree that the C7 and C8 are similar- they sound, handle, look, and feel totally different. The C8 is a world-class supercar at this point, the C7 was a really powerful American sports car. The biggest difference beyond the engine is the handling - the C7 would step out VERY fast and you really couldn’t get on the gas during any corner. The C8 handles far better due to the mid-engine platform, there’s no comparison on track or in the turns in terms of confidence inspiring handling. I liked the C7 Z06, but I am infatuatedly in love with the C8.

I think you misunderstood what I was saying because I said multiple times that the C8 and C7 are COMPLETELY different cars. I was saying that our cars we had to compare were identical SPEC wise. I think both cars are VERY good, but in the end, the only real way to enjoy them is to own BOTH because they are completely different from each other.

First, lowering your C8 Z06 defiantly will make for a harsher ride. Throttle wise, you talked about hp, but torque is a big difference between the two cars. And I get why you left out the torque numbers. If you have $160k in your C8 Z06…. the 460ft torque doesn’t sound very impressive. I’ve driven both, the C7 Z06 feels more out of control from a slow roll due to 650lb torque. C8 Z06, due to roll-in power, feels more refined and in control. As of today, a new C8 Z06 can be bought at msrp. With discounts soon to be the norm. Base C8 Z06 is $112k. Add LT2 package and you’re at $120k. Add carbon ceramic brakes for $7k. You are still sub $130k msrp.

In my experience, lowering it did NOT change the ride at all, I was actually hoping it would make it slightly stiffer but I noted no difference. Throttle response was definitely different on the C7 Z06, seems like throttle is slightly more touchy (NOT torque related when you're talking about BARELY pressing the gas) and I said Z06 WITH Z07 package for the 150k number spoken of in the video. 👍👍

If you’re comparing auto to auto then the C8 will take it. Bit if we are comparing the C8Z to a M7 C7Z it takes the win every time. It’s way more fun to drive, you get way more of a visceral feeling driving it and it’s a manual. So in conclusion. The C8Z is better than the C7Z if the C7Z is an auto. If not. I’ll keep the M7 C7Z 10/10 times.

18s came with forged pistons. 17s and down did not. 19s are the ones to get if you are looking into a c7 generation. They had all the goodies from the ZR1 minus the supercharger and port injection. but they have a better low side pump, better torque tube, better 8 speed, last year of the generation with all the upgrades.
