FROM WHAT HAS BEEN REPORTED IT IS CONFIRMED THAT AT THE VERY LEAST:
The 2022-2023 'racing year' death toll
The race-day death toll for this racing year is 168 horses.
This is 29 more than last year.
A horse is killed on Australian racetracks every 2 days.
The most common cause of death was from an injury sustained to the horses’ forelimb with 63 instances.
6 horses died in their first ever race.
51 horses died past the winning post.
10 horses were two years old or younger when they died.
Of the horses that were killed, 60 had been raced as two-year olds.
Racing Victoria remains the biggest culprit of not reporting the cause of death of a horse - failing to do so 16 times.
Racing Victoria edits racing replays to hide horse injuries and deaths more than any other state racing authority.
The state with the highest recorded deaths was New South Wales with 53 deaths, followed by Queensland with 40 and Victoria with 39.
The most lethal track in Australia was Thoroughbred Park - Canberra ACT with 6 recorded deaths, followed by Aquis Park - Gold Coast, QLD and Ascot - Perth, WA, each with 5 confirmed deaths.

How can people watch and bet on this archaic activity. Those horses are running for their lives and some of them don't live. The jockeys have a choice, the breeders have a choice, the trainers have a choice, the owners have a choice, the horses do not. It is all about money and greed, what else could it be? To force horses to race against each other is just a money making exploitation of an animal. It should be banned. It is carnage.

Horses do have a choice. They are horses. 10x stronger and bigger than a human, if it doesn't want to run it won't and there's nothing a human can do about it, look at Shishkin. And don't say someone will beat it for not racing or anything else because that isn't true.

@@missapippin9020 the fact you say that shows me you don't actually know anything about horse racing. You just read the ridiculous headlines and take it as gospel. They are not discarded in the majority of cases. If they are good they'll go into stud which is a better life than any horse in the wild can dream of, if they aren't as good then they'll just be retired into either another riding industry or just be someone's pet. Either way they live better than 99% of horses.

When is this absolutely cruel so called sport going to stop .What really gets me is when a bloody jockey gets hurt they can be fixed but it's never the same for a poor horse.What you can see as well when the horse as been badly hurt some of the jockeys stay on the horse you can not know the pain that poor animal must be in this is all beyond cruel it's barbaric they are trying to say that if horse racing wasn't around alot of the horses would go to slaughter houses but why let them keep breeding in the first place then it wouldn't happen.Also look what happened to hello dandy he won the grand national then he wasn't wanted anymore how good were the owners and trainers the horses make them money then they are thrown away like pieces of crap SHAME ON ALL OF YOU. RIP beautiful babies you deserve so much better.

To put it simply, these horses wouldn't exist if horse racing wasn't a thing. Your ideology is that they would never have been foaled in the first place..... That somehow seems even more sadistic to me. The number of horses injured / loss of life in comparison to those who have a long and happy healthy life is negligible. Lets not focus on the 99% though! There would be no babies for you to pine over if you had your way!

This looks like horse abuse they are galloping rounds and rounds and the jockeys on their saddle beating them with whisps just ppl please stop this, everyone could show photos of the horses that died only for win, money, run and fame. I dont think that horse races should be banned.. But they should treat the horse equally as us humans If the horse doesn’t wanna go, dont force it If it cant breathe anymore, give it a pause If the horse has a risk of medical problems, dont do dangerous sports with them The point is You can do whatever you want with them, if they allow it and you treat them right Horses can die quite easily If they slip..even over nothing, they can hurt themselves Some horses like horse racings Like my horse loves running but I am too slow to catch up w him xD He loves races I won’t do races tho, bc I dont want his death around my neck But its just.. no need to ban it People are stupid, they need to bored horses for a reason Just treat them right
