In case you're interested, 'horse' no. 5 is described in the following way: "Pirate Culkin Jr. (3 years old at the time), who attracted attention as the youngest jockey at the 2nd Japan World Cup, will be participating again this year. This year's participating horse, Seaworld, was caught in the ocean. My hubby and I once went traveling with my parents and saw some live racing. I placed a $2.00 bet on a horse sired by Seattle Slew's lineage. He finished dead last. My father called me two days after we returned home and told me, "Slewfoot(Not the horse's correct name) just crossed the finish line." It was too funny for me to be angry. For anyone wondering, the way this “game” works is: When the race begins the game chooses at random which racer will win and plays out a Whacky Races scenario to make it happen, and the “players” have to bet on which racer will come out on top in the end. Every racer has at least one scenario where they win, but it seems like some are more likely than others.

Depending on when this game was relased, the Mecha Hariibo story reminds me of The Green Monkey. Cost a little over $16 million at auction. But never won a race. (Really pretty horse, though, and thankfully ended up at a farm that loved him to bits.)

The "MOGY" option on the main screen genuinely weirds me out. My wife and I usually refer to our baby as "Mogyoró", Hungarian for nut (as in peanut or hazelnut), most of the time shortening it to "Mogyi" (a common way to shorten it) or sometimes just "Mogy". I expect that option to deal with the babies of the "horses" in the game.

Did anyone else notice that Pheromone gets longer as the race goes on, and then gets floppy in the middle if SeaWorld bounces off of him? (Well, Mike's machine translation called Pheromone "him," anyway. I'm not judging, just trying not to make any assumptions.) Also, yes, Hiro is a Japanese name. There's actually a baseball manga (and maybe anime?) called H2 about a pair of friends/rivals named Hiro and Hideo, which is a pun, because "hideo" means "hero." Speaking of Japanese names, in a bit of irony, the yeti is named Uma, which is Japanese for "horse." Also, he's apparently from Bhutan, which kind of makes sense (I feel like Nepal would've been even better, but that's just me). Does that mean that to get to this Japanese race he needed a Bhutanese passport?
