Went to Inch beach in Co.Kerry last summer & the DJ in the local hotel played this song outdoors ! Thought I was 17 again without a care in the world ! What a tune !

I saw these guys in the U.S. in 1979, they played a local college in NYS. I bought tickets because I liked the name of the band! lol I was glad I did, they sounded great that night.

My first time seeing this and what a treat. Such a great song. Could be an Irish National Anthem, that and Dearg Doom...and in some respects they are, as everybody with a drop of Irish blood knows the words deep in their souls and can't help but sing along. Good to see them getting a nice traditional Cork welcome here also. They look so neat and clean-cut here compared with the footage of them from back around 1974. Johnny Fean even reminds me a bit of a young Bruce Springsteen, and Barry looks like a shorter-haired version of Tom Petty. Anyway I do think they are national treasures. Many bands have come along since and been hyped up, but they are the original and still the best, and with no airs and graces either.

1979. A "portable" phone required a battery pack and transceiver that took up its own chair back then. They used to look like doctors' house call bags; if you remember that rather common event long gone by. By the time "Lethal Weapon" was filmed in 1986, portables looked like grey bricks; satellite phones often still do.

@johnareidy Not so much comparable in the end result of their overall sound but the blending of their respective country's folk/traditional with rock. Of course, the connecting prominence of the silver flute too . Tull and Horslips are 2 superb groundbreaking bands.
