Great interview Bobbie, thanks for sharing. I've always admired Horst as an actor & greatly enjoyed watching him in those films of his I've seen. His acting in this particular movie was excellent 👌 Really wish he had made a bigger impact in Hollywood.

Great film and Horst was great in his role, as I think the other actors were in theirs.

In 1997 I met Horst Buchholz on a morning show on private television in Cologne. He was, as always, elegantly dressed. However, something was wrong with his eyes. I did not know at the time that he was an alcoholic. There is an excerpt on KZbin of an interview he gave in 1961 in Germany. Horst Buchholz is dressed as a cowboy. It must have been in Cologne because I recognize the restaurant and the owner at the time on the excerpt. My mother worked there and a lot of actors used to hang out there back then. And the broadcaster, WDR used this location for emissions regularly. A funny coincidence.

Great surprise, to find this pleasant interview! “Nine Hours To Rama” has always been a favourite film of mine, and Horst Buchholz was excellent as the assassin, Nathuram Godse. Pity his career in the US didn’t take off the way it should have. I wish they had had more time to discuss the making of the film in India, the director Mark Robson, the cast, government clearance, and so forth. What’s ironic is that the film and novel were later banned in India, because Godse was the main character. AND NOW . . . Under this BJP government today, certain elements within the Hindu community worship Godse as a hero, and blast Mahatma Gandhi as the villain! Talk about a turnaround!
