I don’t understand how whoville gravity works

You'd expect that since Whoville is on that speck the speck itself would have a form of gravity, it wouldn't be much but it would be enough to work for Whoville. But according to what going on in the movie, it seems that Whoville is effected by gravity possibly because the town is sitting on a flat surface, somewhat like a snow globe. Maybe the speck and Whoville is the world's smallest snow globe due to how gravity works!
