Thanks Jim (and Katie) for finding this shovel, creating the video, and saving Christmas. I promptly ordered one for my husband & me, one for my brother, and one for each of our adult sons and had fun wrapping them up as Christmas gifts. Reaction -> They were all VERY pleased and enjoyed your video.

Yay! I bought this same shovel a few years ago after watching one of Jim's videos about digging in clay and its become my "go to". Easy to use and picks up the right amount soil/compost so I'm not struggling. I don't think I'll wear mine out as much though 😁.

How nice! And thanks for the link. In all the years of gardening I didn’t know I needed one, until my son left his at my house after doing a project for me. I loved it, so much easier digging a deeper hole with hard rocky soil,I will always still use and keep my old shovel bought as one of my 1st gardening tools by my husband who has passed away, so here I am at 70 years old buying myself a shovel that I didn’t know I needed. 😊
@brianandtamiolson2330 Жыл бұрын
Although that trenching shovel is worn, I wouldn’t trade that for a brand new one for anything in the world. You should auction off the old one for us faithful viewers. Hahahaha thanks for all you do. I really enjoy and learn a lot from your videos. I am totally afraid to send in photos of my yard as it is always a work in progress, but I am building up the courage to do it. Can’t wait to see that area outside the sunroom done. It’s gonna look amazing and be a great place for the two of you to have a cup of coffee and just reap the rewards of your hard work.

Thank you to the viewer for Jim's new shovel. I've been looking for one similar to the one Jim has already but can't find . I prefer wooden handels I landscaped many years and find the fiberglass dangerous they shatter if it's to cold and the splinters are no joke along with the fact they vibrate and throw the shock back on you if hitting a large root .
@threeriversforge1997 Жыл бұрын
Bully Tools, out of Ohio, makes a great trenching shovel. Well worth the money, and every bit as economical as the chicom tools.

@@threeriversforge1997 Thank you so very much for response. I'm older now and need more ergonomic tools to keep up with my passion for yard work .
@threeriversforge1997 Жыл бұрын
@@careyjohnston4176 Glad I could help. I'm a geezer, too, and ergonomics has become serious business for my aching back! Lowes, Home Depot, True Value Hdwre, all carry wood-handled trenching shovels. "Razorback" brand, made by chicoms, but with wood handles. A good sanding and a coat of Pine Tar, and the wood will be good for a year's service. I love using pine tar one wood handles to keep them lively and free of bugs or rot.

Yes Jim I don't know why they don't make the step part of shovels wider for using your weight to force into ground . If they were wider you have more balance . Manufacturers never ask those that use their products how to better assist you.
@chriscoogan2736 Жыл бұрын
I would like to get that shovel, but we’ve spent so much on home repair and tree work, I don’t think my wife will let me. Of course, I could suggest it as a Christmas present.

Where did you get it from?
@waynem.722610 ай бұрын
@@darrinmc You should find it through a simple internet search and find it from a contractor tools distributor. Since Jim likely gets paid through his affiliate links, I don't want to step on his toes by providing an outside link. It is a great shovel, though, and has already gotten a workout.

@threeriversforge1997 Жыл бұрын
I really don't understand why more folks don't use trenching shovels instead of the more common types. The narrower blade means less frontal cross section to push through the dirt, so an easier use. And the angle of the handle to the blade is ideal! Once you've tried one, you'll be convinced. The only thing I'd recommend is getting a Bully Tools version because they are made in America and every bit as economical as the Chicom versions. It's one time when you can support American manufacturing without paying through the nose!

How wonderful!! I am glad Katie was able to help you out with finding your favorite shovel. QUESTION: Would I be able to have my husband cut the handle down to fit my height? I am short. I have a lot of trouble with a lot of tools, Rakes Hoes, Shovels etc..because of the length of the handles. Thank you Jim for all your videos and information. I have learned so much from you. It's s amazing the amount of knowledge you have.❤❤

@Ibis333 Жыл бұрын
You should try the Radius line of tools. They have a shovel, transplanting shovel, edger, fork etc. They're just the right height and have a kind of ring at the top instead of a regular straight handle so you can have options about where to grip it depending on the task.
