It took me 2 days to prune a small Japanese maple in my front garden bed. It had only been pruned by the crews hired by our HOA. They think everything should look like a boxwood ball. Basically I used the principles of rose pruning. Cut out dead or diseased branches. Cut out crossing branches. Make sure the center is open for air circulation. Hoping for the best. Now I’m pruning roses. Who said gardeners could rest in winter?

Hey Jim, been watching off and on for a bit. Glad to know you are in my flower zone, which makes it easier for me to follow your advice really closely. The Pugster series of Buddleia grow to 2' tall. Our first year Pugster Blue reached 28" in an area that hasn't ever had plants, so I was pleased about that. I've heard people say to prune them to 6". That seems a bit extreme, but that's one aspect of gardening I haven't felt comfortable with: hard winter pruning or mid-season moderate pruning.

i have so many huge Camelia Japonica in my garden. Most are taller than my house. Unfortunately when Helene came through here in Georgia a pine tree fell on one of my prettiest and biggest camelias. I was so upset and wouldn't let them take it all the way out. I made them leave the stump at about 3 feet tall. I am hoping that it will bush back out for me. It isn't looking promising though. I may have to take it out if I don't see growth this year. I planted 5 butterfly bushes the day before Helene and they lived with minimal water for a month. I have no idea if they are going to survive either.

I have edgeworthia envy! Mine is a little stick and the buds have all fallen off after that cold spell and snow we had. It’s currently in a pot. I had ordered it online and it came in a 3in pot. I plan on planting it this spring and I really hope it branches out like yours! Right now it’s a single long stem that only has 2 lateral branches. Very disappointing for the price I paid.

That "faux" rainy day thing? That's our life in .25"/annual precip-land. We are PARCHED. We're in a leg of the Mojave Desert, in a squiggle that extends North & East of the Main desert. Your annual rainfall? Something like 40 - 44" INCHES. I covet your precip, not the humidity, though. Only because I'm not used to it.

Where did you get your garden cart!!!!!!! I have been looking for a cart like that. However, the ones I find have pneumatic tires(not a fan) or the handles are too short and you bang your shins while rolling it. PLEASE dont tell me that it is no longer made... Thank You for the videos.

@@stephanyputnam mine did too it was my MIL cart then I had it for 7 yrs...work horse cart for sure. I was very sad to see it fall apart but it was over 20 yrs old!
