That's a sad day. Awesome equipment. Porter Township Olive Green Ohio I believe still using one. All of these units were and are a great asset to those tuff areas for water supply issues.

One of my old departments in northern Vermont had a rig very similar to this except it had a front-mount pump and only 300 gallons of water, which was fine as it very rarely functioned in a fire-attack role. It was extremely useful in the rural setting and responded in quite often as the primary water supply engine on mutual aid calls.

The standard hose beds are more efficient? The hose truck was meant mainly for drafting supply?

Idk, most of the time the Tanker task force was used.

question regarding the wrap up process I mean when its time to put all that hose back on the reel, how hard or easy would it be to accidently get the hose tangled on that rolling device, meaning if it does happen, you would almost have to completly unroll the whole length of hose to get to where it's tangled??????

Probably why it’s not used anymore. Seems like a huge PITA to me
@pizzasubs2 жыл бұрын
@@sinjon I think if I remembered correctly when the rolled up the hose on the HUGE Reel, they had to make sure that it went from side to side while being rolled up Or it could get tangled up very easily.

Why retire them if them work? Look around the USA for them to continue working in an area that needs a good functioning piece of equipment. We throw away too many good pieces of expensive equipment instead of finding a way to continue to serve a community!

Why do they use the Storz connection for the yellow hoses but not for the black?
@newjerseybill35217 жыл бұрын
Generally, Stortz couplings and seals are designed for positive pressure, not a vacuum during drafting with the "black" hose
@trainssd406 жыл бұрын
They are using the black hoses to draft water from the pond. The couplings must be tight to prevent any air from seeping into the connection. That is why they are threaded. The Storz connections are not really airtight. That is why they use them for supply lines, not for drafting.
@paule16 жыл бұрын
It depends on the sealing Rings. Here in Germany, we use the stortz couplings on every Hose, but the Vacuum hoses have Special sealing Rings sealing under pressure as Well as in Vacuum.
@ghostdevill6 жыл бұрын
Also in Holland we use storz with a tight seal! The couplings are strong and can be connected and dissconnected in matter of seconds! Time matters when youre dealing with fire!

And we still have older trucks than that in service. Uhm??
@Tower_15_Ladder2 ай бұрын
It got like maybe 4-5 calls a year and with rising costs to keep apparatus in service it was easier to call a Tanker task force instead of keeping this beautiful truck in service.

In Europe we put that amount of hose, together with a 1000 GPM pump in a standard container, which can be transported to the scene by any hook-container truck. Once deployed, you can use the truck for other transport. Why spoil an entire truck which is, once deployed, doing nothing?

In the US there is not all that many hook type trucks. other than the m107X military trucks, and a few garbage trucks. Hook typr freight delivery is more or less unheard of here.

operator or the driver should be maintained his behavior he shouldn't reverse the truck with out guide for him also he shouldn't go over the hoses by the truck he damage the hoses
@Acepilot2356 жыл бұрын
You really don't have a clue do you? The hose he ran over during the wrap up is meant to be able to get run over ( without charge to it ) and as well as he doesn't need a guide to back up a damn truck, the only exception to that would be when backing into the station. Also just about all hoses firemen use are sturdy enough to get run over whilst not carrying water in them.
@CM-xr9oq6 жыл бұрын
Renard, you don't have to be so rude. Maybe at Ahmed's station, they have different SOP. That doesn't make him wrong. But, your attitude sure makes you look like an ass.
