Hosepipe bugle

If you get the measurements right and, as Rob shows, that's not hard, you can make a very effective bugle from hosepipe and a few bits and pieces.

My jazz band did this a few years ago, and we played a piece of music that involved spinning the hose around while playing to make a weird, nyyyyiowww nyyyyyioowwww sound. We named them the Hose-a-Phone. Another similar invention was the Didgeri-bone.... A Didgeridoo with sliding PVC pipes inside so you could play a good range of notes on it.
