As a Carat from their debut, let me fill you in on a few things. First off, Seventeen is under Pledis Entertainment. Bighit (or now Hybe) is a major shareholder of Pledis , but Pledis is still run independently. So yes, Seventeen is under Hybe, but they still have total creative control over themselves. Hoshi is Seventeen’s main choreographer and leader of Seventeen’s Performance Unit. Seventeen has the nickname of “the theater kids of Kpop”, mainly because their amazing choreographies. Seventeen are the original “self-producing idols”. They write, compose, produce, and choreograph their own stuff. They have also designed their own merch, shot and produced some of their MV’s, take part in set design for concerts and have imput in their costuming. One of the members even single-handedly put out a photo magazine. They create their own content for their KZbin channel. Because of the creative freedom they have, they are free to explore different genres of music and choreo. And because they are the creators of their own sound, every song sounds distinctively “SEVENTEEN”, even if the styles of music are different. Each SVT unit (hip-hop, performance, and vocal) also put out their own stuff so you can hear gorgeous emotional ballads, hard rap songs, funky and unique dance bops...all Seventeen. Seventeen is the only Kpop group out there that can boast that EVERY song they put out is good. They are no just “meh” songs in SVT discography. And know that EVERY MEMBER can sing, dance, and rap. It’s ironic you say he reminds you of Taemin because he’s actually SHINee’s biggest fan. He’s been a shawol (shinee fandom name) since before he debuted. Plus you can really see his passion for dance, they're not far from other dancers. I'm not even an nctzen, I agree with that trio for sure but I think Ten at least deserves the title too

You guys have seen him before, he’s in seventeen! The label thing can be a little confusing but how it works is: him and seventeen are under pledis entertainment which was acquired by bighit but operates independently. it’s it part of hybe labels which is the labels bighit has acquired but NOT merged with. There always seems to be confusion on acquisition vs merger (so seventeen and their members are still under pledis, not bighit).

hoshi is actually a shinee fanboy from the start the group taemin is a part of and i think his style definitely got influenced from them in some way so it is a BIG compliment to him if you are gonna compare the style of his music to taemins

I'm probably going to say something controversial but.. Oh well. I see exactly what you mean about the similarities between Hoshi and Taemin. I ALSO see some similarities between Hoshi and Jimin. Hoshi, Taemin, and Jimin all have these fluid movements and these moves that just set them apart from others. I also think it is because of androgynous the three of them are, these styles and dances and songs fit them so perfectly. Loved this song and music video by Hoshi and love the reaction to it as well
