Hi @Siobhanmaclean9614 - Thanks for this helpful information! I’m an American MSW student focusing on Medical/Hospital Social Work. After finishing my degree in the U.S., I plan to move my family to the UK on a health care worker visa (we’ve lived in the UK before). While the core SW principles I’m learning now are likely apply similarly in the UK, I am aware that the healthcare system (and therefore the hospital social worker role) operate very differently. Can you recommend any resources or organizations that might help me better understand the legislation and policies that impact the social care profession in the UK? Maybe even a textbook or glossary of common terms and programs one must know to be successful in the field? For example, what are the key qualifications an institution would be looking for and how would I acquire them post-qualification? I’m confident that I’ll have the soft skills by the end of my program but lack the systematic/institutional knowledge in the UK and don’t yet know where to find it (aside from doing an MSW in the UK itself.)
