US CDC recommends Dengue Vaccine for 9 thru 16-year-old if they had previously infected and living areas where dengue is common. It is not licensed for people over 16. So, basically, our best way to minimize it is stay away from mosquitoes. Or is this vaccine approved in Thailand?

First up, glad you're on the mend Ed, secondly, great info in the video, a must know for all expats, or like us looking at moving over to LOS. We have started having a full medical once a year at Siph Hospital in BKK, £280 or 12600 Baht, we didn't get the eye test or the stress test, but did get everything else you have spoken about. We also got a food voucher & a consultation with a doctor, they gave us a printout of all the results & a CD rom for us to take back to the GP here in the UK. To say I was impressed would be an understatement, all done & dusted in four hours.

It can be a mixed bag, read the reviews but like you the experiences I’ve had thus far here in Thailand have been “no complaints”. Thanks for rather time out to write/share.

Both my children were born in Bangkok Pattaya Hospital back in the early 2000's. The price was outstandingly good. That price no longer exists as price there have exploded. The care is still some of the best you can get and they do shorten the time you expect to spend in a hospital. They provided the best care I've had at a hosptial.

I had quotes for age bracket 61-65 4500-7500 euros. Not yet included are accident, outpatient nor pre existing conditions. Area Asia. Direct billing more expensive. I expect to budget 6000 for me and 6000 for my wife and expect to go for a deductibles of about 5000, which I deem already very high. We’re just in the planning phase, still in Switzerland. Costs here are slightly higher but deductibles are only 300 Euros plus a 10% participation at costs above this. And of course here we can’t get canceled. I like your statements at the end because you clearly say amounts and the risk of not being renewed. All insurers in Thailand can kick us out any time and that’s a real issue and therefore one has to opt for a great broker and a top tier insurer as you did.

For us it was right at the top of the list before almost anything else. For those under 40 I suspect it's much lower down but as we age it creeps up, like nightly trips to the toilet! Thanks for taking the time to write all that you did and I hope others benefit from your words. All the best and stay healthy! Ed

Thank you for sharing your experiences. That was very helpful. One question: is the dedictible of Geo Blue for each incident or for each year? Some youtuber said insurance deductible in Thailand is for each incident vs each year in North America. And the only exception is Pacific Cross. Wondering what your experiences were on this? Thank you.

Our deductible is on a yearly basis. Thanks for viewing!

Spent 10k for 5 days in the ICU for pneumonia 17 years ago Paid cash as soon as they gave me a bill. Over 40 years, spent 30k in hospitals or less than 1000 per year. I paid 10k insurance paid 20k. I can easily self insure now. My care in Bumrungrad was excellent and about $2000 a day. I was in the ICU taking IV zntibiotics and on a broncho dialator everyday Spent another 150 bringing in my own food everyday from nearby restaurants. Now 70, I expect my expenditures to double or triple. I can get insurance to pay at least 70% and qualify for national health insurance in Japan which is based on local income. 80% if my income is from outside Japan so the cost is not so high. I always have 100k for emergencies and can get 1 million quickly if needed. This takes years of preparation and planning Hospitslized 4 times and 5000 worth of dental work. Less than $10 per month. I keep 100k in reserve and only spend about 60 a month.

I live in the UK (we are planning to retire to Thailand in 2025) and even though we have cold winters that brings other viruses that like the cold. The percentage of the elderly population dying especially due to pneumonia always rises in winter. Which allergies did the Infectious Disease Doctor say were to blame and did you claim on your health insurance to see her Ed? Also does Koh Samui have a few private hospitals to choose from and what made you favour the Bangkok? 😊
@edandtomo10 ай бұрын
Doctor didn’t say. The spray is effective against a broad swath of allergens. It’s a longer story but weeks later our dogs got ticks and we went crazy cleaning the house and eventually discovered a LOT of mold under the bed frame and under the false bottom of the clothes closet!!!! It was pretty nasty! After cleaning my symptoms (and some time) my symptoms have reduced to almost nothing. Onto new adventures ;)

I may had missed it but what did you have? I heard Flu but only heard that they prescribed stuff (which I guess was stronger than what the earlier doctors had prescribed) or did they have a different plan?

Thanks for the good info, Ed. It looks like this Hospital (like others in the US) even though it is very good as you have stated, is trying to get more money from foreigners, 'cash', because insurance companies have deals with Hospitals to pay much less than individual 'costumers' for the same tests. work done. Prices are excellent, but still not accepting insurance that their website says they do, is a litle.....hmmmmm...whatever....just my opinion.
@edandtomo Жыл бұрын
Oh yes, they are maximizing profits 😂😂! Fingers crossed Geo Blue will get then to honor their contract (which I was told they are trying to do). Thanks for sharing your thoughts and stay healthy! Ed

What the heck is that big cat doing walking in the background on the other side of the body of water at 17 minutes and Thirty-five seconds or so?. Weren't you told to stay away from really big cats as part of your medical checkup. Please tell me where you are and how. far from how this happens to be something that you're not concerned about.
@edandtomo7 ай бұрын
Not sure if you watched the entire video but I was inside of the house when the neighbors cat walked along the wall. No danger.
@saildale7 ай бұрын
You know that behind you is a wall with flowers or vines behind you. When I watched it, I saw a body of water behind you with vegetation on the far shore, so I saw a big cat in the distance, not a domestic cat on a nearby wall. Watch again and try to see a body of water not your wall
