Love heavy equipment and all that goes with, especially the people. Worked 30 years , under staffed as usual, building roads and bridges and up keep and general repair. Spent 4 years in the Seabees, which was the next highlight of my life. Worked 240 acres dry land ranching. Pulled wrenches 2 days a week car and truck repair and custom exhaust on all vehicles. I loved my jobs, always busy and something about helping people. Always felt good. I am here in Wyoming and its a great place to live except for winters which isn’t really that bad. Suffered back injuries and had half a dozen surgeries. Fused back neck, complete shoulder replacement. I am now a human barometer which really sucks. Broke L 1/ L2 last fall, first one then the other. 6 months down. Back on my feet sorta, but I’ll live. Miss the scrapers cats and excavators. Take care of yourself, liked the video. Michael

Our bodies are like the engines ,they wear out fast when cold , it is the reason why many drivers operators suffer from joint damage , our engine needs to be brought up to temperature to keep things maintained and frame joints lubricated ,our design is better suited for field workin than the machinery operating .

I was loaded with truck and pup 105 thousand pounds and a little old lady pulled out in front of me, I had to swerve to the right and go into the ditch and I ended up going by here bouncing threw the ditch honking at her and she looked at me smiling and waving as I past her in the ditch, was so lucky I didn't roll it.

I was wondering why the two earth-movers were working together then after watching I saw that the empty one pushed the front one then hooked up to and was pulled by the full one. I owned a 7 yd JD dirt pan and teamed that with a laser guided blade to level 300 acres of my farm. Pulling a blade and filling low spots you have been bogging through for almost 20 years is very soul satisfying.

I had a similar occurrence about 20+ years ago while hauling a full load of river run in a ten yard dump truck on the south bank of the Chetco river road. I had just reach top gear for that stretch of road and a local fisherman pulled out in front of me, I had the same reaction as you applying the brakes and laying on the horn! luckily the driver pulled off the road and i went by him. amazing how ineffective the brakes are with a full load. i learned to drive slower when the salmon are running in brookings Oregon!

Jeff's exactly right about bidding. I used to bid electrical work. A new customer would almost always want a hard bid and that's what they got. I threw in everything but the kitchen sink to cover myself. If the job went well and they had ongoing work that I had a good chance of getting, I would cut them some slack on the bid price, telling them that I had kept track of the time and material and the job went better than I had expected. I had repeat customers for years who called, told me what then needed, and turned me loose to do the job. They trusted me to give them a fair price, and I knew I would get paid when I billed them. It's better to make a fair profit on repeat work than to make a killing on a on time job.

I would have asked that Guy if he would rather here a horn blasting or to eat the KW's grill with the full weight of the scarper pushing it alone. So what is your loaded weight, 130-145lbs ish? At 60 it takes what, 10 lengths to come to a complete stop? These lessons, questions really need to be added to the state drivers testes, not just for truckers, or a cdl, but for EVERYONE so that they understand that a truck might have 18 plus wheels but that DOSE not make them stop any faster.

The idiots don't take into consideration the speed limit and how much of a load your hauling. And the big thing probably was there was most likely no one behind you for at least a mile but they just had to get in front of you. It's even worst when you have a load of livestock and throw them all over the trailer jamming on the brakes not to hit them.

Wish there was a way to make drivers like that at least ride in a truck with a big load and have an idiot pull out in front of them! Honest Jeff, I thought that first blast on the horn was telling me that you were giving way to me, thought you would swing a right into the road I was coming off and needed the clearance for the turn. That dirt you are moving looks pretty lean and what naturally grows in it does also, yet I suppose it's whats between the lava rocks around there. Does it grow something worthwhile with just irrigation, or do they have to add a lot of fertiliser and nutrients as well to make it productive?

Ha, ha, ha.., your word "upset" pretty mild and eloquent. I bet you did some editing to remove the actual words you were uttering. That truck/trailer was all misconfigured, and way overloaded for the configuration. Glad you avoided that mess. Sorry about the "pass" made at you by the "troll", for gosh sake you are a happily married man to Mrs. Paydirt. Most of those folks have the feeling that you trucks are merely an obstacle to their getting around. Also sorry you have such a poor view out your front door... I am joking of course. You gotta feel like your are blessed to have that right out your front door, I know I do, I have a similar view, however on a way less grander scale. Love your videos, keep on trucking my friend.

I said the F word, you can hear it in the video on my facebook, KZbins is on a hate speech enforcement spree and I figured I better not have it in the video

I have over a million miles, and I can attest that was a dangerous situation. Your use of your horn was perfect

People get upset about using the horn? That is what it’s for. To keep you safe and them safe. Hopefully, next time the driver will think twice about pulling out in front of 60 tons moving at 45mph.

@@joeswheat Yeah hopefully, next time the driver will think twice about pulling out in front of 60 tons moving at 45 mph, in what, a 25 or 35 mph speed limit residential zone. "Get out of my way, I'm more important than you" says his horn.

Michael MacDonell Dear Mikey, You have no idea if that was a residential area. They call people LIKE YOU and that hauler, who don’t THINK before they act, Darwin Award recipients. I’ll gladly nominate you, just ask.

@@joeswheat Oh Joe, you friggin moron (that is keyboard warrior talk, isn't it? I'm trying to fit in, lol). You just have to look at the video to see that he is speeding in a residential zone. I just spent the last couple of hours reading comments on this stupid video. I won't be doing that again. Talk about one of the easiest ways to get dumbed down, sheesh. You may want to consider that Joe.

@@michaelmacdonell2986 point 1: you dont if it's residential nor the speed limit in the area Point 2: trucks are not cars who can stop right away.... it's like you all fail to realize that, worst if that truck is loaded, yeah you get hit he cant stop even if he wanted to right away

Is there anything your crew does to keep your haul roads smooth without support equipment? We do our best to drag back to the cut and split our tracks but our clay is pretty wet and pumpy crap at times so it's like a dog chasing it's tail all day long
