Love heavy equipment and all that goes with, especially the people. Worked 30 years , under staffed as usual, building roads and bridges and up keep and general repair. Spent 4 years in the Seabees, which was the next highlight of my life. Worked 240 acres dry land ranching. Pulled wrenches 2 days a week car and truck repair and custom exhaust on all vehicles. I loved my jobs, always busy and something about helping people. Always felt good. I am here in Wyoming and its a great place to live except for winters which isn’t really that bad. Suffered back injuries and had half a dozen surgeries. Fused back neck, complete shoulder replacement. I am now a human barometer which really sucks. Broke L 1/ L2 last fall, first one then the other. 6 months down. Back on my feet sorta, but I’ll live. Miss the scrapers cats and excavators. Take care of yourself, liked the video. Michael

Our bodies are like the engines ,they wear out fast when cold , it is the reason why many drivers operators suffer from joint damage , our engine needs to be brought up to temperature to keep things maintained and frame joints lubricated ,our design is better suited for field workin than the machinery operating .

I owned a 7 yd JD dirt pan and teamed that with a laser guided blade to level 300 acres of my farm. Pulling a blade and filling low spots you have been bogging through for almost 20 years is very soul satisfying.

I had just reach top gear for that stretch of road and a local fisherman pulled out in front of me, I had the same reaction as you applying the brakes and laying on the horn! luckily the driver pulled off the road and i went by him. amazing how ineffective the brakes are with a full load. i learned to drive slower when the salmon are running in brookings Oregon!

Jeff's exactly right about bidding. I used to bid electrical work. A new customer would almost always want a hard bid and that's what they got. I threw in everything but the kitchen sink to cover myself. If the job went well and they had ongoing work that I had a good chance of getting, I would cut them some slack on the bid price, telling them that I had kept track of the time and material and the job went better than I had expected. I had repeat customers for years who called, told me what then needed, and turned me loose to do the job. They trusted me to give them a fair price, and I knew I would get paid when I billed them. It's better to make a fair profit on repeat work than to make a killing on a on time job.

I would have asked that Guy if he would rather here a horn blasting or to eat the KW's grill with the full weight of the scarper pushing it alone. So what is your loaded weight, 130-145lbs ish? At 60 it takes what, 10 lengths to come to a complete stop? These lessons, questions really need to be added to the state drivers testes, not just for truckers, or a cdl, but for EVERYONE so that they understand that a truck might have 18 plus wheels but that DOSE not make them stop any faster.
