I am mainly a container gardener, not for space (I have a 25'x450' garden), but because I have a buried petroleum pipeline under my back yard. My smallest container is a five gallon wicking bucket, I use 27 gallon tote sip's, and kiddie pools. You can grow full sized plants in containers. I grow beefsteak tomatoes and cucumbers in five gallon wicking buckets. Containers are not good for big watermelons or corn, but you can grow a lot.

I'm on the coast and my garden sometimes stays really wet so the best way for me to grow tomatoes is in raised beds and grow bags so that they have good drainage and arent as susceptible to disease. Last spring was really wet. I lost almost all of my tomatoes that were in the ground where as my tomatoes in the raised beds and containers were unaffected.

The taste of the tomato's is excellent and there still producing and Iam still we are eating them lol. just slice them bad boys in half on a sandwich with Dukes Mayo and cheese and pin your ears back. My wife is allergic to cucumbers (makes her really itchy) but LOVES dill pickles for her burgers and subs so she makes dill pickled zucchini chips. There's almost no discernable difference in flavor and texture so they're perfect. That's just another thing you can do with zucchini.

I was told that if you plant a grouping of sweet peppers with hot peppers they will cross and make the sweet peppers hot. True or false or somewhat true?
