You're the man. Thanks for this guide. I guess the next step is to write a cron job script that checks for updates and reloads the servers automatically. I'll see if I can get that working too. Cheers.

Bro that Suicune art that printed in the "crystal" console at the beginning; is that part of a shell/distro or did you set that up yourself? So sick, I'd love to set up something similar for my server
@AlistairBrugsch9 ай бұрын
Check his Debian server install/setup guide, (how to setup a Linux server from start to finish from a month ago) he has a chapter detailing how to do it. In the example he does it with torchic

I'd be cool if you showed how you had setup the cs2 surf server even if it's just a quick overview/showcase of the different mods required.

yes one day I will, there is still some stuff I want to sort out about it (with regards to zoning) before I make any public release about it :) It is CS Source tho not 2, surf is fucked on CS2

I cant find the sdk64 file/folder for the symlink step.
@hoff._worldАй бұрын
Do you have the problem I was describing though? If that doesn't happen you don't need to symlink
@slamsuget3628Ай бұрын
@ yeah i have the error you explained, but i cant find any sdk64, i tried using a program called plocate to find it and it still gives no results. Im using ubuntu server with ui
@hoff._worldАй бұрын
@slamsuget3628 from what I remember the sdk64 file is actually a symlink you are supposed to make, so I don't think it will be there. You are to create a symlink to ~/.steam/steam/steamcmd/linux64 which becomes the symlink ~/.steam/sdk64 hopefully this is helpful :)

How do you play Palworld? Do you run it using wine, you run a windows vm or something completely different? Tbh software compatibility is the only reason why I'm still on windows
@hoff._world9 ай бұрын
Steam's built in compatibility layer, Proton (I think it extends wine) is quite good for games that don't have anticheats. I don't think I've booted windows for a game in well over a year, however none of the games I play have intrusive anticheat.

cant connect to the public IP, neither my friends =(( any clue? I did set the ports open (tcp/udp)
@hoff._world7 ай бұрын
as I mentioned in the video you need to port forward on your router as well, which wasnt covered in the vid since every router is different. as a side note make sure ur firewall is allowing those ports too
@Rennu_the_linux_guy6 ай бұрын
Its not recommended to host this on your own pc because giving the people the abulity to connect to one of your open ports isnt a good idea if you arent security expert. Its more recommended to purchas a VPS/domain name (that lets you use a word for your website url instead of an IP), qnd then host your sruff off that, make sure you install security software like fail2ban and configure your firewalls correctly, disable root login for ssh, and ideally disable logging in with a password (but that last part isnt super important)
