Thr grenade combat would go as follows. Sarge arms and throws the grenade. He rolls to see how close to the point of aim he gets. Check the thrown weapon rules. Then the grenade detonates. If the enemy is WITHIN the 3 meters then the full 5d6 damage applies. If not then less damage is applied. Grenades have an area of effect. Their range is determined by how far the character can throw and how accurately.

Whereas a grenade launcher has a range like a pistol or rifle. You roll to hit. If successful the full damage of the grenade is applied at the point of impact. As a GM I'd rule a miss with a grenade launcher as 1-2 meters away times the amount by which the roll failed. E.g. you miss by 4, the grenade goes off between 4-8 meters away. This lowers the damage dice depending on the strength of the explosive

@@fatherfletch Haha, I knew I was doing something wrong with the thrown grenades! Thanks for the clarification!

oh wow.. a lot of book and rule flipping.. I would have just made a judgement call to keep the action going.

@@J-Diggs3000 Oh yeah, combination of inexperience, over ambitious story arc, and too advanced enemy made this playthrough the most difficult one I’ve done so far. As I said in some other comments on this series, I’d design the mission differently if I could do it all again. Live and learn.

@@SeekersHollow that's how we all grow, we try, and we experience.. you did a great job and I learned a lot, thank you for it. Also where did you get that combat data sheet? I've been looking everywhere for it. If you made it up and don't wish to share I fully understand.

@@J-Diggs3000 Thank you! Glad it was at least a bit useful for you! Hmm, did you see the combat sheet in the 19 page document? I didn’t make any custom sheets other than hex maps. It’s possible it’s a sheet that only comes with Cepheus Universal. If you have a specific timestamp I can check it later.

@@SeekersHollow Sure, its in episode 2 Redo, at 10:30ish mark, you hold up a Combat Data sheet you laminated.

@@J-Diggs3000 That sheet is in the 19 page "All printable forms" document that I linked you to on drivethrurpg.

So this might be because I'm unfamiliar with the rules, but it kind of seems like it is 'Rules heavy, procedure light'. I feel like I'd need to create a bunch of player aids, or constantly refer back to the rules, if I wanted to run a game of Hostile Solo. 🤷♂
@SeekersHollowАй бұрын
@@JarethDuLac I did a pretty bad job of making it look accessible here 😅 Adding in Cepheus Universal in the middle of the playthrough was somewhat misguided. If you only follow the Hostile Solo core book, it’s quite a bit lighter. I’ve considered several times taking down this whole series haha. But I appreciate the opportunity to learn from my mistakes, nonetheless.

@@SeekersHollow Hey everything is a learning experience. And it probably didn't help that I was working while watching, so couldn't focus entirely on the video.
