HOSTING HIGH TEA | MY MUM'S 2ND ANNIVERSARY & BIRTHDAY

Hey my loves! This weekend, we celebrated my mum on her 2nd anniversary and her birthday. We have our extended family and us. A get together of 12 people for tea.
Here are some tips for for hosting a successful high tea.
In this version, I am doing an Asian high tea, which is quite different from the British High Tea and afternoon tea.
However, these tips are quite universal.
1. Have a theme
2. Plan your menu
3. Have 4-5 dishes. The main dish, the side, the minor (filler) and dessert.
4. Decide how much food you need. Bear in mind that some guests might prefer not to have dinner after hi tea while others will eat only a small amount bc there is still dinner, another meal for them. It’s easiest to take an average of 0.5kg /1.25lbs of food person.
5. Do a trial layout in advance.
6. Delegate - I put Paul in charge of buying fresh ingredients, One mini adult did the collection of food we had ordered, the other handled the tea station while my daughter was my elf for the day!
6. Prepare in advance wherever possible. Like I made sauce for the mee goreng a day earlier.
7. If you have enough, offer the guests some takeaway.
8. Have a good time
Entertaining is the most enjoyable part stylish homemaking. Stylish Homemaking is the art of managing your home with priorities and skills which are somewhere in between traditional and modern homemaking.

Loved the idea takeaway at the end. Reduces the work to store the leftover in fridge. But when I cook all the stuff myself, i feel leftover gives me a break the next day from cooking.

You do you, but it’s an option. I had quite a bit extra because my mums family didn’t attend (Covid) so I had enough for both lunch the next day and give away.

This is such a dream and so well presented with a lot of efforts I’m my experiences I have always found that my guests find my efforts too intimidating and over the top, why do people always feel the need to compare?
