I like the idea of integrated lights on a city or commuter bike, but I don't want the added weight or complexity for my EMTB. I would rather add lights for the times that I need them instead of having them there all the time.

The lights are such a good idea. I even like how the implemented them. I’m digging that whole bike. On another note, I am on my iPad and I forgot to have my speaker on and barely noticed. The sound in the video is pretty good compared to other videos I have watched today. Kudos

It's a nice prototype, but I prefer my LED torch on my helmet. Just give me more battery range instead of an integrated light.

Seriously this seems so obvious. Why is this not already a thing. I use my emtb for both mtb and urban commuting. Would be nice have lights front and rear integrated
@fredEVOIX25 күн бұрын
adds failure points both mechanically and for the light and maintenance it's the worst idea ever, on older cars the bumpers were plastic and made to take a hit it cost very little to replace them, now headlights and plenty of other unnecessary things are integrated and if you bump your car it'll be 5000
@VenoXj125 күн бұрын
There has been bikes with integrated tail lights for a long time now, they are just super rare. I remember Haibike has had tail lights ages ago and Scott also had a bike with integrated tail lights. Lights in the front are however new and while I do like the idea, it really adds a new failing point to the bike, extra weight and possibly a light that is not living up to our expectations which you are stuck with. Tail lights, yes please. Lights in the front however, no thanks.
@Jukeboxchigg25 күн бұрын
@@VenoXj1 good points. Probably better off just getting nicer lights then being stuck with whatever they give you
@Jukeboxchigg25 күн бұрын
@@fredEVOIX yeah that’s a good comparison. I’m glad mine doesn’t have integrated lights. Would still be nice to be able to run lights off the battery but still removable/replaceable
@Derbloon25 күн бұрын
@@fredEVOIX The monkey link they use is a very good idea. It is integrated in the cabeling system and allows you to use the main battery for the lights instead of multiple mini batteries that all need to be charged with dedicated cables and chargers.

The zf motor is 48V. Most others are 36. That is why it can be smaller. Why not 72 volts? I guess we are waiting for the battery technology to catch up.

It’s kinda funny that your just now discovering inverted forks. Kevin from Wrensports up in the San Francisco area has been making these for awhile now. Used to have them on a fat bike I had years ago as well as my downhill/enduro bike. His also came with guards for the lower legs to keep scratches to a minimum. Great guy to deal with to as well as Russ his tech guy. Solid company. That’s why motorcycles use em, stronger.

I always thought lights would work better if they aimed where you want to go. Lights on the fork for example. How come car lights turn with the wheels.
@MrMartinSchou25 күн бұрын
Yes and no, because it's very much a personal preference. > How come car lights turn with the wheels. Cars generally do not have as wild movements of their front wheels as bicycles do. A better comparison is to motorcycle headlights. And with motorcycles they seem to be primarily mounted to move with the fork. The problem with bicycle lights that aim where you aim the wheels is that darkness you're now risk getting a strobe effect. Even on smooth roads, I find it quite annoying to have the lights move whenever I make small adjustments, especially when those small adjustments aren't following my head. head. Bicycles are subject to far more jittering motion than motorcycles and especially cars. To my mind, the ideal is two lights on the bike - one that follows the fork, one that follows the frame.

Needs to be similar to a Exposure 6 pack in output or it adds nothing for me! It would be great if i could have one less thing bolted on, but if it's not bright enough then i'd then need an additional light.

Yeah but do they still keep 10% of your battery for it? Id rather have the battery at the end of the ride against the little lights
@aucklandcycleworks24 күн бұрын
Vehicle regulations require that the lights can be run for a certain number of hours after the vehicle has been turned off. This means that as soon as you plug lights into your ebike, the software recognises this and reserves a portion of your battery capacity. This reduces your range, and is why I'll fit separate usb lights thanks very much.

Friend of mines riding a cube got his axs derailleur powered by the main battery. When he's out of juice, he simply cannot change gears! Just the wrong nice idea
@OhTheNormanity25 күн бұрын
Isn't this more an issue with the battery/motor implementation though? It should be set up so that there is always a minimal amount of juice available in the battery for auxiliaries even if there is not enough to power the motor.
@LeSoarien25 күн бұрын
Good point! That's exactly what I thought at first glance. 5% battery for derailleur lights etc. Hopefully this brand will be smart enough

@Todd6625 күн бұрын
News Flash…. “Cockpit” does not originate in a plane. It originated from boats. “Headlight” did not originate from a car…hell it was not even a vehicle. “Headlight” originates from illumination in front of you, hence it being so widely used for anything that…illuminates in front of you. I kindly suggest you learn about the language and definitions of words to avoid getting peeved or upset for what turns out to be your own ignorance.
