Been suuuuper busy with work so unfortunately I haven't been able to get out as much as I would like to try and get on some bigger fish. But this video I filmed a couple days ago after a long day on the charter boat and with the overcast skies I found the energy to walk a mile or two to this spot and get on some Stripers!

Good to see you back home fishing the Point. Get used to the small fish that’s most of what you’ll find in the surf on L.I. Your shads have been good to me so if you have more color and size - bring it! You should sell a teaser (small shad or grub) to go with them - they’ll work well with schoolies. Is the Hobie under warranty...? The born salty is a good kayak but for the next model I’m going to have some design input to make it better. For now it’s a good back up pedal kayak fir fishing most areas but I won’t take it off into the montauk rips.

Traditionally you reel with your strong hand, and work the rod with your off hand. I prefer to fish right handed, and reel left. Get better rod action, IMO.

I grew up using my dad’s equipment and he was left handed but he was right handed so for me it’s more natural to hold the rod in my left hand and reel with the handle on the right side of the reel. I can fish the other way to but I choose not to.

Yup its all about alternating your retrieve if your hitting the bottom and snagging rocks speed it up

Looks like a perfect spot. I live in Massachusetts, and have noticed that the stripers have moved away from shore and out of the rivers into deeper water at this point in the summer. Do you know if they’ll come closer to shore again in the Fall before their migration? Your videos are better than cable!

Actually just a uni to Uni. I prefer an Albright not if I’m using leader any heavier than 50lb and if I’m fishing at night having leaders rigged on barrels as backups is essential. But I think you lose a little distance with a barrel swivel leader.
