Hot air gun repair attempt

Successful diagnosis of a dead hot air gun. Thoughts to prevent the damage found.... don't drop it.

Internals look very similar t0 the TITAN TTB284HTG except it has a 4 position switch brining in more sections of the element..

Great vid. Have one that is blowing air but not getting hot enough to heat anything. Suspect one heating element may be burnt out and another firing. Good to see a disassembly even if no repair could be made. You can find parts for many items these days on ereplacementparts.com. Probably wouldn't be worth it but could be surprised! :) Add those extra parts to your parts bin!

@faustus I think your G+ is set to disallow replies. If that sheet is the only thing between the element and the metal nozzle you'd want it to stay there to prevent the nozzle from becoming live if the element touched it. If your element is also encased in ceramic like this one then I can't think it would be any more than heat insulation and would probably work ok without it. Is probably just to reflect heat inward to keep the nozzle tube and case temperature down, that's my guess.

Toss it. Keep the motor switch and power cord. You could just twist the two broken ends together but it's risky to do that. you don't want the end of the element touching the metal case and you have 230VAC@50Hz power which is more than I have.

But you can twirl that spring together,half ohm dont bother in this case.

It is an insulation material probably made from mica.

but not by much. use as little wire as you can to twist so that the total length of the wire is almost the same. a few degrees increase doesnt hurt anyone. such changes occur everytime the voltage fluctuates. you dont always get 240v/120v ;)
