I don’t usually mix in key but when it comes to live mashups and hot cue playing i prefer key syncing
@ADMdj5 жыл бұрын
This is a decent technique I’ve had incorporated for a while now starting to manipulate sounds with my hand on the platter the possibilities really are endless you could scratch in a nice heavy bassline project it into the background of the other track with subtle touches sharp clean cuts, then there’s endless creativity cutting in hats or beats, other instruments. This is a great video wish there was more advanced like it around. Cheers💯

13:58 - I haven't used Serato in a while but from memory, if the track is already playing, hitting a hot cue button or key once and taking your finger off would start the track playing from the cue point and keep playing, whereas if the track was stationary to begin with you would have to keep your finger on the cue button/key to keep the track playing from the cue point.

Odd choice but makes sense if you wanna do it kind of oldschool where you just have samples and one shots comming in over an entire deck. You know similar to those vinyls that just contain like 50 music and vocal loops
@djtweezy064 жыл бұрын
Is there a way in serato to change that. Just like the video I want to have my hot cue start the track and continue to play when I release the button
@jonnynava22134 жыл бұрын
I have the sx2 and if the track its already playing and press a hot cue the track keeps playing the hot cue but if the track its pause or not playing and you press the hot cue it will only play the track as long as you keep pressing the hot cue onnce you let go it will go back where the hot cue starts

14:16 Just obe more detail (yes, I'm picky). He's playing the track until the next 1. That just feels more natural and is a little bit easier. But it sounds more natural to only play it until the 4. The singer is breathing between the 4 and the next 1. You wouldn't breathe there if you wouldn't continue singing. So it would sound even more natural if you cut out with the crossfader on the 4.

Thanks for the tutorial, I've been doing this lately with Traktor's sampler, but instead of doing it with the crossfader I just set the samples as one-shot and gated so they only play while I'm holding down the assigned button, I feel like it's easier to stay in tempo and less work for your hands while performing that way.

worth having somewhere to go if you are doing this as part of a performance, don't get trapped in it, having more than 2 decks and preping a drop on your 3rd deck before performing a section like this is a good idea.

In Serato you don't need to use the crossfader, just press and hold the hotcue releasing the hotcue when you want it to stop(when the track is not playing of course).

Gr8 video thanks... I’m new to CDj’s just picked up the 3000’s... Few Questions if anybody can help... 1. When I’m playing a track and I hit the outside button it make a studdering sounds like it’s skipping.. stops when I hit other cue button... 2. If I load a new track in the player with hot cues... wheni hit the hot cue button the cdj will jump back to the previous song and play the hot cues from that track... the new song disappears can’t figure that one out... 3. When I load a song into the cdj it starts playing automatically.. I tried to switch off that function but sometime it still does it.. Need help Thanks..

Hey, I use beatport link and rekordbox for all my music and can't find a software that will input cue points automatically (I've tried lexicon and Mixed in key neither of these work) does anyone know how I can do this? So I don't need to go through 100's of tracks and put memory cues in and hot cues.

My DDJ-400 arrived 5 days ago, and I am currently working with the hot cues on my songs. Since the DDJ-400 has only 8 pads for recording hot cues and loops, I have been wondering if it is better to save just loops. Apparently it is more agile to disable the loop as soon as it is activated, than to add a loop over a hot cue the moment the pad is pressed. What do you guys think on this?

I have a question and I have Asked All The DJ’s I know (6) and even Tweeted Serato & Pioneer, I have the SX2, but this is a Serato Question, I know about midi mapping BUT, I like to have my echo effect using 2 other effects, the shorter delay and I can’t Remember The other lol, anyways, Is there anyway to midi map all three effects as a preset on a button. Knob or pad.. I have to always keep going in and setting it up again manually everytime I start a mix, scratch or set.. PLEASE HELP.. It’s the only thing I can’t get right.. Cheers

Do DJs set their Hot Cue before the performance or they can set it on the spot?
@djrec01115 жыл бұрын
It can be set on the spot if you get really good at listening for certain sound effects or notes. A lot of controllers let you tap out your que points while listening to a track.
