i really like her interpretation of this song. among other covers, hers are the one who play with dynamics, change of rhythm and arrangement that suits the lyrics and meaning of the song the best. hence, why hers are the most emotional for me (followed or maybe tied with the original). her inability to do head voice like the others works to her advantage cause it sounds like vulnerability, really suiting the song. its like shes telling a story, starts with the slow tempo 'unmyeongie rago hajo', telling people its her story, how fate cant be denied. then the fast tempo, its like shes talking to her beloved. and the ending is just pure cry of anger and emotion. really beautiful. she plays with dynamics well. all in all, she did this song more than justice.

I originally came into this with a VERY biased mind because I LOVE Sohyang's version of this song(it made me cry) and Lee Sun Hee's version is also heart wrenching. So I was kinda like, "I wish she wouldn't have done a song that I already have such a strong impression of from other singers." But she really made this performance her own. There were certain things she did that I didn't care for (the raspiness when she switches from chest voice to head voice was kinda annoying) and her tone can be really bright sometimes. However, she really shined around the end of this song. Feel how you may about her, but she is definitely top tier in the idol singer lane and she can hold her own with kpop vocalists. Also, I wish the Ailee comparisons would stop. It's childish and just unoriginal at this point. I get it. Compare a powerhouse with a powerhouse. But it serves no purpose at this point and it's just stupid. Regardless of technical vocal greatness or what have you, at the end of the day, voices are as subjective as music. So just except their differences and strengths and shut up about it.

XOXOChocoRevolution XOXO By choosing to be an idol, she kind of boxes herself in. It's the same with US people saying certain singers are good for pop stars. The same stigma of pop singers not being able to sing carries over with an uneven proportion of idols not being the best singers. So regardless of whether she can hold her own with solo vocalist, she will always be compared from an idol standpoint. However, her being an idol doesn't take away from her amazing voice and I don't believe I indicated as such in my comment.

I agree, she made the song hers, but I still prefer Seyong's version. Hyolyn's voice is not made for this type of song, and she did great, but it's not my favorite of hers. I'm not saying by any means that she can't rock this song, but I think she focused too much in showing off her voice, rather than feeling the emotion of the song. Yes she has a strong performing presence, but this cover didn't got to my heart and made me cry, if you know what I mean. The only thing I could say was "Woah... those vocals!" That shouldn't be everything about performing. And don't hate on me, Hyolyn is my baby, I really love her, but as she was told many times in different shows, like Immortal Song, she needs to work on her emotions towards the song..... Performances like these are barely performed by Hyorin. She usually likes dancing and giving off a strong and fun vibe to the audience. But I am left in awe with this performance and I'm not even in the audience watching her live. She not only touched the audiences hearts live, she also touched the hearts of the people only watching this from their home and phone screens. I'm so proud of her. For everyone calling bullshit on the observations about her being targeted because being an idol on a show associated with legends, I'd like to remind you that she was on the Chuseok special of I Am A Singer as well and managed to place 2nd to The One, of all singers. And that was with singing and dancing. People shit a brick in response and complained about her placement the whole time, so I already knew they'd be out to eliminate her first chance they got from the moment they announced she'd be on the show. It's not like they wanted her on there to begin with.

I think ppl should watch other contestants sing and then compare and state why Hyolyn is eliminated. i'm not bashing her, but it's not just her that's a good singer.from this video, I can see some of the other contestants such as at 1:04, she's a verteran singer. Just wanted to share my thoughts on miss hyorin's performance.... iv'e watched the other singers version of this song and they sang it nasally which makes their voices sound smooth and pitch perfect just like an opera singer does which is great. But her version of this song was so superb, it is hard to sing using her full and rich voice with that amazing high ranges matching with a short acapella that was an awesome performance. I am not a singer to think who am I to compare singers song versions against others but i guess all i have to do is to listen well and appreciate their talents. And for me, that is the reason why miss hyorin's performance became more unique and astounding among the others... Hope she doesn't let her self feel degraded and humiliated about the results... Just like others I don't understand either why she got eliminated. This was just breathtaking and very deep in emotions.Especially with those traditional musical instruments in the back. She said she wanted the emotions to dominate in this performance and she definitely did succeed. Its a HUGE and POPULAR song covered by many great veteran singers. But Hyorin didn't fall short on her emotions delivery. I hope she this elimination doesn't destroy her passion for singing and instead as a stepping stone for many great things to come in her way and continue to polish her skills as a real idol singer.

Lately, I've been feeling down and been watching/listening to sad songs.Another great song I found is Family Picture by Kim Jin Ho. I thought Hyorin did a good job at making me feel the tears but Kim Jin Ho made me crawl into my corner and cried myself to sleep. Amazing singers.
