I just realized I came across your pictures on Club RSX! I used one of your side profile pics on the track as my background for inspiration. Just picked up an 02 type-s myself and plan on time attacking as well. Do you have a build thread? Hoping to see more content on your YT soon!

Have u ever drived without the caster plate? What's the diference with more caster? I only have caster bushings
@_hoangpham
@_hoangpham 5 жыл бұрын
Bruno Manco yes, before the caster plates I was running the top hats from the Buddy Club RSDs, which provided about the same amount of caster as the stock suspension. On hard braking, the car would be unstable and I was often fighting to keep it straight; with the caster plates it provides a lot more stability given the change in suspension geometry when you’re braking so hard. Additionally, I got better steering response with the higher caster angles. While this is a personal anecdote of my experience, here is more info about the caster plates I’m running: www.dvrace.com/caster/ Hope that helps!

Did you ever run into any weird alignment issues while tracking the rsx? Any suspension issues? Tie rods, coilovers, rack slider etc?
@_hoangpham
@_hoangpham Жыл бұрын
Absolutely. Long list of items, but for starters you’ll eventually need/want: extended tie rods, front lower ball joints, camber bolts for the front and arm for rears, caster plates (I got mine from Todd’s with DaVinci Designs or engineering, forgot what they’re called, but also pretty sure he doesn’t make them anymore) - all that on top of the coils you choose. Once you get everything dialed in though it’s pretty much set to go.

Sik build!!! Just subbed. I'm looking to get into time attack in my dc5 it's a k24/k20 just need some wheels and tires. What front sway bar are you running. I'm currently not running one due to header clearance issues. Thanx and keep up the great vids

b20vda thanks so much! Sounds like you got an awesome build going, the k24/k20 setup is great. I’m actually running a stock front sway, Hotchkis rear. It’s a great setup to get the rear rotating! Let me know if you have any other questions.

What offset are the wheels for the rear? And what are your alignment settings for the track?
@_hoangpham
@_hoangpham 4 жыл бұрын
Rear wheels are +35 but a +22 would fit just fine. Alignment: Front Camber: -3 Rear Camber: -2 Toe: 0 front and rear Caster: +6 (fixed with Todd's caster plates) Hope that helps!

Thanks! Just finished putting together my k20/k24. Starting to work on suspension parts. Hope to hit the track soon. Picked a set of 57dr from my friend and they are +22 all around. Planning on running 255/40. Worried about having to run excessive camber in the rear. I know the fronts will fit fine. Unfortunately Todd doesn’t make the caster plates anymore, but PCI just designed one that I ordered. Looks like a nice piece and I know adding caster will significantly help.
@_hoangpham
@_hoangpham 4 жыл бұрын
Christopher Vo nice! Looking forward to the build! Just a heads up, but I’m sure you already know while the +22 will fit you are going to have to roll the rear fenders. Unfortunate Todd isn’t making the caster plates anymore! Great that PCI does, let me know how they work out!

Were Todd’s tie rod ends required for you to correct the toe? Todd has one set available, debating if I should pick them up or not if it’s absolutely required.
@_hoangpham
@_hoangpham 4 жыл бұрын
@@xlitovi3tbo1x Yes, they were. I would highly recommend them. Before Todd's tie rod ends, even after being able to adjust the toe to 0 with the factory tie rods, they would pop out of place just driving on the street.

Question for you, where are your mounting points for the splitter, specifically in the rear towards the firewall. If any. Thanks.
@_hoangpham
@_hoangpham 4 жыл бұрын
Of course! The mounting points are on the car frame, right underneath the firewall. Two female steel pieces were custom fabricated and welded onto the frame, and two male pieces were fabricated and bolted onto the splitter on each end, making for really easy installation and removal. The front of the splitter has 4 mounting points, all on the frame-2 on each end underneath the headlights bolting perpendicular to the car and 2 on both ends of the radiator where the bumper support bar would have bolted up, bolting parallel to the car. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions!
@midwestkproductions
@midwestkproductions 4 жыл бұрын
Ok, that's what I was thinking you did for the rear. My issue is that my splitter doesn't go all the way to the firewall. It goes to about the rear part of the subframe. I still have to figure out a way to attach the splitter from there.
@_hoangpham
@_hoangpham 4 жыл бұрын
@@midwestkproductions Ah okay. I'm thinking you might be able to do the same for the subframe, you just have to fab up the pieces. Shoot me your email if you can and I'll see if I can find a picture of my splitter to help.

How much did you gut the car in order to drop that much weight? I'm assuming only the essentials are in the car?
@_hoangpham
@_hoangpham 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris! Only the essentials are left. All interior except for the dash is gone. Everything behind the dash except for wiring is gone. Doors are hollowed out and sunroof assembly was replaced with an aluminum plug (much cheaper than doing an ITR roof skin). Removed all sound deadening as well. I still have yet to clear out my engine bay, which probably won't get done until I repaint the car. The cage probably adds a good 80-100 lbs. Let me know if you have any other questions, glad to see another DC5 on the track!
