I always prepoo my hair with a hot oil treatment. I detangle my hair with water and oil. Then put on a plastic cap and sit under a hooded dryer for 25 minutes.

Before using heat, you need a heat protector. Vegetable oils and butters do absolutely nothing to protect hair from heat appliances. The heating appliance must also be kept 15 cm from the hair, otherwise there is a risk of hair damage.
