I was at this concert at the Winterhawk Bluegrass Festival. It was a great show. I remember hearing about the plane crash a few days before. What a surprise to hear them announce that Pete Wernick, the banjo player was on that flight and survived. He walked away and was playing at the festival a few days later. At the time it seemed like a miracle. God bless all those who were on that flight. I miss the Winterhawk festival , what a great time we all had.

We slept in a tent in Jackson Miss. to see Hot Rize many years ago and waking up in 28 degrees my wife stated right there she would never sleep in a tent again and we have not.The show was fantastic Tim is a great writer and musician.

My favorite band, also this was wrote by Pete Goble. In Michigan when I was a kid growing up Pete was in the house band that played in my Dad's bar back in the early '60s.

Hot Rize really played a huge impact on BG music …….. if they could have finished what they started they would be Stalwarts of BG music !

Tim has one of the 3 greatest voices in Bluegrass, Lester Flatt, Dudley Connell, and of course, Tim, himself!

I was volunteering that year at this festival, parking the performers cars backstage as they arrived...Tim, Nick & Charles were already there but Pete had not yet arrived, though we all knew what had happened...they hadn't seen him yet, and then he pulled in and I witnessed the biggest, most righteous hug session between those bandmates, still makes me tear up thinking about it, I was very lucky to be standing there in the parking lot with them when it happened. It was on the cover of Time magazine that week. Yeah, I know the story.
