I like how Jordan was somewhat in doubt at the question of who was the narrator of treasure island, even after james googled it and jordan was like "can you tell me if this answer is right or wrong?" and then James said "that would be giving you the answer" which means that it was the one jordan had in mind. Because giving the answer to that would be "yes". If it wasn't the one Jordan was considering, then it wouldn't be giving the answer as the answer to jordan's question would be "no" and there still would be three options.
@LiveGame5559 жыл бұрын
In my mind it was basically giving away the answer because it obviously wasn't Long John Silver and Blind Pew was a little far fetched, even for a kid's book, so there are two options left.
@meghan_shew33609 жыл бұрын
Yeah but even then the answer seemed pretty blatently obvious anyways....None of those names made any sense but the right answer.

Just goes to show that school is pointless, real knowledge doesn't come from sitting in a desk and writing down notes from a board onto paper. Real knowledge comes from learning about things that actually matter in the world, actually going out into the world and learning about it and whats necessary to live in it.

BasedGod Montymont What's wrong with using Google to look up something you don't know? I never understood people who consider someone stupid just because they don't have every single thing memorized. We have inovations like Google and the whole of the Internet, why not make use of it? As Einstein said “Never memorize something that you can look up.” What's the point in forcing yourself to memorize something instead of looking it up, what's the point of memorizing long equations when you could just use a calculator? To make yourself look superior to everyone else? That's the only reason I could think of. Besides, the human mind is faulty. Is it not better to look something up and be absolutely sure, or trust your memory which could very well be wrong?

Despite the various levels of education, I don't believe this game was created to make people feel dumb. Jordan, especially, is an intelligent man who runs a successful business. The game really shows the triviality of the school system or education in the US at large. It seems like a good way to poke fun of people who can't answer "simple" 5th grade and below questions. No, it's a game show. It's a fun premise and challenges the contestant to recount things that don't matter to the average adult. Granted most game shows are like this but Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader has a undertone to be taken. Why can't grown adults remember elementary school? Has the system improved or was it inefficient to their education? Or, has the school system focused on material not germane to adult life? Well. That's for y'all to decide. I've said my peace. Good on you Koots, this is actually your more intelligent light. We get to see how that brain works under the red hat.
@Bignic20084 жыл бұрын
I think this show / game demonstrates that if you don't use knowledge, you'll lose it. And "using" it doesn't have to mean that you use something to live your daily life. For some people, knowledge is a goal on its own. For others, they couldn't care less about knowledge that doesn't relate to their lives. I think most people fall somewhere in the middle, where we like learning about certain topics and don't care about others. How many of us KZbin nerds could name 7 Creatures off the tops of our heads? How many NBA fans can name the finals winners over the last 5 years? How many music lovers can name all Beatles albums? All of that knowledge is useless - you'll never need any of it to live a happy adult life in the USA. But people consume the knowledge because they enjoy it. People like to say that schools should teach more things that will help them in daily life, but there are finitely many hours in a student's public school career. We have to pick and choose what to teach, and there are other places to learn about essential life skills. Students can learn about cooking and calculating taxes and other "life" skills from their parents and other non-teachers. The role of math and science and English teachers is to teach academic skills, because most people don't have the ability to pass that on to kids. That's my two cents. Schools and teachers have a specific role in society and it cannot be everything.
