Hot Start Challenger 650 - Datalink

Thanks to your video now I finally understand what that radio panel display always set to "DATA" on the overhead panel of an Airbus is. So this is a datalink to receive chats in the Airplane (DCDU) :) awesome. And the Challenger has this simulated too - even with study windows showing details of the transmitter and receiver line of sight signal strenght and more. I am getting more happy about the simulation depth of this plane by the day.

It's an amazing level of simulation - the developers really went all out on making the best simulation of the Challenger they possibly could.

Hot Start really aim for a full simulation of a real aircraft, and you can see that with the detail around the navigation and datalink systems!

Fascinating. Now, how will a loss of our actual internet connection affect this airplane? Being a sim, would it still function normally asside from datalink request?

In fact, there are some features that actually depend on a working Internet connection. At the very least, SBAS will be inop. Originally, the whole GPS subsystem would go inop if it couldn't download the real-life GPS almanac, but I think that's fixed now (a default almanac is shipped with the CL650).

Yes it will still operate without an internet connection, as has been mentioned the GPS almanac will be out of date but the product ships with an old set of data so it will operate as expected.
