One of the best baby must haves videos as it emphasizes minimalism and cost effective alternatives. We certainly have the same philosophy when it comes to baby purchases; less is more. As for the full size bed in the nursery, it’s very smart if space permits. Works well for parents and/or nanny to sleep there and then can be used by the child as they grow older.

Hi Rachel. My baby was a high demand baby (not an easy going one), and most high demand babies need certain tools to sooth themselves. Examples are the hatch and pacifier (and some rocking). But you are right, easy going babies usually dont need those tools (learned this from my sister in law and her easy going baby). Simply sharing info :) Love you ❤

Sorry not to be mean, but the contradictory to using cheap diapers and needing to use diaper cream every change. 😂 for the ones taking this advice, get good absorbent diapers, make sure you are cleaning well, use a soft towel to dry up any wetness left by the wipes or let air dry before putting on a new diaper. Diaper rashes appear and need moisture to thrive. For prolonged hours like night sleep, use aquafor or petrolatum in the creases to keep moisture off baby.

The bandana bibs are nice for more mobile babies that are flipping around and trying to crawl. The circle bibs seemed to just get in the way of movement while bandanas were more snug

Nice recommendations! My baby didn't need rocking he just slept in his basinet until sleep regression hit at 4 months and he start teething at 7 months old. Now he needs to be rocked. And I don't have a rocking chair, i hold him in my arms. 😂 I call it my workout for the day as he is very big 😂😂

Hot take- Doonas are the best for the first year! We used the doona for over a year. We even flew to Canada when she was 10 months and it worked so well- having the car seat & stroller in one, and not having to bring the stroller. My husband and I loved the minimalist design too! 💛 Of course our baby grew out of it once she was 13 months old and started walking but it was so worth it in my personal opinion lol

Discovered KZbin videos when pregnant and started watching several channels related to pregnancy. My baby was born 11/22 and I found your channel shortly after. 32 first time mom up early right now with my little watching from Nashville! Really enjoy the simplicity and authentic content. We definitely went overboard and do not use half the things bought or given. You hit the nail on essentials in this video.

My baby is only a few days older than Jesse so I really enjoy your mom content! (This is my second baby) But oh my god, you’re so blessed with a baby that sleeps through the night. 😢 we’re in the thick of the 4 months sleep regression and it’s been crazy. But even before that he used to wake up at least 2 times a night. 😅 My first was also a terrible sleeper until 3 years old so no luck here lol

I agree when they’re this little the extra sound machine features are not necessary, but I got the hatch for my first and she’s almost 4 and we utilize it every day. It helps with transitions, quiet time, she gets to pick the colors, the sounds, etc. definitely worth the investment in my book

agree on no need for bassinet and rocking chair. We have a 1 bedroom apartment right now so I didn't have room for a nursery. Honestly it was less stress for me while pregnant that I didn't have to worry about setting up a whole room. I know some people love that process, but it was nice for me to just get a crib and necessary items. We also didn't know the gender of the baby so between my multiple baby showers, I got items we really needed and I bought the clothes online with Amazon and Target gift cards after baby was here.

The diaper rash could also be due to the diapers. Our baby had diaper rash if we didn’t use diaper cream with pampers. But when we changed to Huggies we no longer needed to use diaper cream. I know each baby is different and it doesn’t mean thats the case with yours. Just a thought.

My son absolutely hated his bassinet and started sleeping longer stretches at night when we moved him into his crib at 2 months. He’s a very light sleeper so with our pediatrician’s blessing he started sleeping in his own room at 2 months. I will say we have that changing pad and it’s not holding up well. At almost 19 months it has a few tears and we will likely need to get something else now for this next stretch before potty training. The bouncer is something that didn’t work for my son he hated it so much along with the water mat. 😂 For any new mamas watching this just know that every baby is different. So what works for one won’t necessarily work for another.

Do you clean the diaper cream applicator between uses? That may be why he has constant diaper rash. If it’s coming into direct contact with his bottom every diaper change without being cleaned with every use then it could be making the diaper rash worse.

I treated myself to a nice rocking chair after my 5th baby and holy cow it’s AMAZING!! now we NEVER used it during night feeds - I use it during the day while watching KZbin or reading , even just skin to skin and I do really enjoy it (but YOUR CORRECT ITS NOT A NEED AT ALL) plus do people actually get out of bed to go into the nursery for feeds every 2-3 hours when they are infants? That’s crazy if so lol!!

Bassinet (not the snoo that things is stupid expensive ) is a must for my home and family. Having baby right on the bed (we use the halo) it’s like cosleeping so breastfeeding is soooo easy during night feeds, all while still being in their safe space. After a few months (still very little ) they go into the crib and it never has been an issue but all babies are different so some maybe have a regression *also have been using the same halo since my rainbow 🌈 baby was born in 2025 so totally worth it lol

Another hot take.. you dont necessarily need a crib. We transitioned our first to a floor bed (mattress on the floor) at about 15 months and it was amazing! Our second has been using a mattress on the floor (using a Kid friendly Newton mattress) on the floor since about 2 months old. We use pool noodles under the fitted sheet so that he cannot roll out. Then you do not have to worry about the transition out of the crib and it allows for independence as they grow and get older.

This is all such personalized information. For instance, we don't have the space in our room for a crib so we opted for a bassinet for now (the snoo). And I'm so happy we got a glider because our nursery is so small and there would be no where to sit besides our bed or tiny couch in the living room. We live in an 810 sq. ft place in Southern CA. It all just depends on what your family/household is suited for and what you want! Although, thank you for reminding me I need some burp cloths ;)

If you switch diaper brands, you may find that you don’t actually need diaper cream. His current diapers may not be absorbing the wetness quickly enough to keep him dry. Btw the Frida snot sucker isn’t meant to go in, just sit it at the opening of the nostril. I had to watch a video to figure it out and it worked so much better than a bulb syringe when my baby caught my cold.

I hate to sound mean, but I currently have a three-month-old baby as well, and it concerns me that I never see you with yours. From the diaper rashes to the comment about forgetting you even have a baby, to not buying him cute clothes, and not rocking him to sleep-it’s worrying. In another video, your baby was talking while you were speaking, and you said, “Shhh, mama is speaking.” That was wild. You even asked, “Do we need to speak to your baby?” I don’t see a lot of love and attention being given to your baby.

"He doesn't know what it's like to be rocked," she says as she currently rocks back and forth. 😂 Anyway. Don't let that take away from the fact you don't need everything people say you do. Also, buying second hand is amazing. I've seen brand new never used bassinets for $50 because "we accidently got 2 for Christmas" the crib I got was free. We got our $175 carrier for $20.

Bassinet attachment on the pram is a waste of money. Our son had reflux so we couldn’t lay him flat in a pram…glad we didn’t buy the bassinet attachment

I truly don’t get why the Carters brand clothes are so popular? Most of them feel so scratchy 🧐

Using cheap diapers is not a good idea, they do contribute to nappi rash. It’s always a good idea to use a barrier cream. Rather spend more on diapers especially when he starts with purées etc. Poor little Jesse doesn’t deserve nappi rash, , extremely 🥴 uncomfortable

@@brooklin_bernek if you are staying home what's the point. Sleepers work just fine.

@ lol, because sometimes you wanna just dress your kiddo? Whats the problem? Sleepers all day every single day ? Nothing else at all? That’s fine for you…
