The plaintiff says the defendant is the father of her child and he has anger issues. She claims he’s destroyed a lot of her property, and she’s suing him for damaging a hotel room where she was going to have a birthday party. The defendant admits he has a temper but says the plaintiff provoked him.

Mild depression does not require hospitalization. Also, the hospitalization should have been for 72 hours, not a week. Something else is happening with the defendant.

As adults we're responsible for our mental health too. He's not working & has children he's at home with, so he should apply for Medicaid that does cover a psychological evaluation to receive treatment for any diagnosis. If she's already in a program to help low-income households, then she could add him to the case to receive benefits too as part of the caseload, but I can see why she didn't, broke up with him, & put him out instead since he's destroying property. Depression doesn't usually manifest like that.

Maybe if there were more rational and thoughtful discussions of this nature more people would feel comfortable coming forward to get the help they need without threat of being shamed or ridiculed.
