Great film Simon. I’m the same when it comes to the critters surviving in the elements - always amazes me. All the best!

Fascinating to see whats in the bag. Reminded me of those tv gags where they keep bringing huge items out of a shopping bag.

Beautiful location Si and a great camp with the stove in the tent. What a great place to wake up . Some graft though carrying that kit 🙂. We'll always be young enough n fit enough 😂. I hope so anyway lol. Nice one Si and love the passion for the outdoors. Couldn't have said it any better 👍. See ya next week, atb Rick n Billydog

Wow, I wonder how much the bag weighed?! I couldn’t agree more with you about the struggles of wildlife, they’re so tough and just get on with it, nicely acknowledged 😊 Great video Simon. Btw I ordered a camera beanbag from Tragopan, via yourself before Christmas, my partner was over the moon with it, thank you!

Flippin-heck Simon what a life you live. Full of adventure 👏 good for you mate. Would that wood not be worth putting up a feeding station of some sort. It would be great to get a goshawk on camera.

I was 3 nights out in a hot tent at the end of December although the weather was very mild. We have had no snow or even much ice here in the far South West of Wales, it's all been North of us. Cheap stainless Chinese stove works very well, no warping and big enough for my small tent, Great video Simon, at a push you could have slept in that Bergan...😂

Spot on mate. Really interesting and informative. One question; Did you have to seek any permissions to camp though?

Good little adventure Si. Have camped in canvas tents at -25+ and they soon go cold once that fires out. If you've got a good hammock (one with a foot sack) get a proper and good underquilt with a good bag on top and you'll be toasty once setup right.

I spent a night in a one-man tent in a field above Tebay with a cracking view of the M6; it was -3, not fun but an experience; it got a bit damp in the tent with the condition. Thanks for sharing, Simon. PS This was the first time I had camp; at 60, I didn't do it again.

A few things come to mind in no particular order: 1) I've used a sleeping bag liner in the past to try and get my bag through a lower temp than it was rated for and found the thing to be a bigger hassle than it was worth. It ended up twisted around me inside the bag, and it was a little difficult to extricate myself in the morning. 2) I'm not familiar with the water filter system you used here, but many of them are prone to damage from freezing. 3) Like yourself, my photography comes as a result of my time spent outdoors. Immersing myself in nature is what's important, and if I'm able to document some of that time, great. If not? Doesn't matter; I was afield. 4) I prefer to wear wool trousers to the synthetic insulated bibs you wear in this vid. They're dead silent. None of the noise synthetic garments make. I believe that at times this has allowed me to view wildlife I may not have otherwise seen. 5) Binocs are always accessible. I wear mine in a chest harness that keeps them from flopping about when I'm moving. Great vid, thanks for sharing it.

Love to see people out in the elements! Watching this early morning in Australia where I'm tucked up in bed with a coffee watching my favourite you tuber. That pack looked way too heavy for a normal human. How many kilos was that Simon? Looking forward to next Saturdays breakfast video from you hopefully with the camera out.

Having a little overnighter is lovely. We did quite a few when we where kids and didn't bothered about the law. 😂 Is camping legal in the UK?

Must be a way of keeping a fire going all night, can you not slow down the rate of burn by shutting or covering a couple of the air inlet holes, when I was I kid we used to bank fires up with wood and close the vents that drew air underneath

Setting up camp on a slop isn't fun. I didn't see your breath when you woke up so it must have been pretty OK temp wise. A couple of dogs, sled in the winter and a cart in the warmer weather and you can carry all of your gear.

Sounds bliss, unfortunately we dont get enough prolonged periods of snow in this neck of the woods. It'd be a great adventure though😊
@19Photographer767 күн бұрын
@@simoneardley I'm sorry for not being clear. You can make a sled so it accepts wheels for warmer weather. I made one 40 yrs ago and it worked great. Of course there's always a bike with a trailer but your terrain looks horrid for that. Great video.

Jealous, especially living where I do in Cumbria we have the best places in England (possibly) for doing this but as all the land is owned by Forestry England, or National Trust some United Utilities, not allowed to camp, unless above the tree line, basically due to all the clowns who desecrate the place. Its such a shame
@simoneardley7 күн бұрын
Aye theres a lot of numpties out there Andi, the minority spoil it for the ones who do it right.
